If I could give 20 stars here today, I definitely would!!! To the young man that was working this morningā¦. Youāre incredible!!! I know you thought you were just helping me, but you did so much more!!! You restored my faith in humanity a good bit!!! Iāve been drinking Starbucks for years and never had a hot coffee, until today.
Today my young son had his first ever surgery, the day started super early for us. 3am to be exact š© I was dressed like hell (looking like a movie extra for nightmare on elm street) and needed some EXPRESSO LOVE!!
So once our son went back for surgery, my husband and I walked over to the Starbucks at the UAB Hill Student Center. I was stuck about what flavor to get and asked for help choosing a good one. What I got was worth so much more!!! This young man paid for my drink and started asking about my baby boyās surgery!!! He was the most polite young gentleman Iāve seen in a long while and he saw that I needed a boost. He didnāt just boost my mood, but my whole week!!! Iāve had a terrible week this week and that one gesture of kindness, made a world of difference!!!
I pray God blesses this young man with all that he deserves in life ā¤ļøšÆI wish I had gotten his name before I left, he definitely deserves recognition for his service and his love for people!!! Keep doing what youāre doing!!! Your work isnāt going unnoticed friend, and your blessings are...

As a result, the service is not and will never be up to Starbucks's standards. This is less about the quality of the food & beverages, and more to do with the quality and friendliness of the servers. I personally have only had to deal with slow service, but that could happen at any time during a rush. The worst stories come from others; I have heard of them not even offering a cup of water for security detail at events. At other foodservice locations in the same building and operated by the same company, not even students are charged for that. It's a pretty good summary of the apathy and disregard the employees have for their customers. Another critical issue is that this location doesn't accept Starbucks's own rewards program, which is extremely annoying after having signed up for the program just for the convenience of the location being in the same building that I work for. I've personally made a resolution to never purchase another item at this...

The store itself is always clean. The service is terrible. The staff is not rude, but they do like to spend a lot of time chit-chatting and looking at their phones - and that's me putting it lightly. Whoever works the mobile order kiosk that notifies customers about the status of their order needs to be re-trained. I just got out from this location after waiting 20+ minutes for a drink I ordered from the app that said it was "ready for pickup" before I arrived.
