Went to Detroit location for lunch with coworkers. When I stepped in the place, I was very impressed with what they did on that corner in Downtown Detroit. Besides the decor, the next two things that I noticed was that the waitress who took our order, didn't seem really interested in doing much more than that and that her uniform had stains all over it. I figured she may be pulling double duty, both in the kitchen and on the floor. I ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich and fries, but when it arrived another waitstaff person brought and asked who had the Blackened Chicken. I took it after realizing they were one and the same.
Everything was going okay, but as I mentioned, our waitress wasn't really that attentive to us. We had to keep signaling for her and asking for little things that she missed. Still okay. Then when the bills came, she handed us all our individual bills and took credit cards from three of us and then me and my coworker across from me paid with cash. Incidentally, I still had 1/2 a sandwich left and a whole basket of fries. I asked if I could have it boxed it and she said, "Yes, I'll box that up for you."
When she returned to the table, she was empty handed and said have a nice day. I then asked, "where is my change?" She then responded, "Oh, I thought you said to keep it." I said, nope, just want the change and my box. She gave me the change and proceeded to join a couple of her coworkers near the bar and began to sit down and eat.
I then realized that she actually was done with us. I signaled for her and asked her where was my food. She responded, while chewing, that she threw it away. I reminded her that she told me she would box it up. "Oh, that's my bad, I thought you were done. I'll get you another one."
At this point, we had already spent over an hour in the restaurant and were due back to the office. I asked her how long it would take to get my sandwich and fries and she said, "Oh, I don't have any idea." I asked if she could find out. She then left and returned about 10 minutes later with a plastic lid in her hands. Now, I'm thinking, is that the lid for my sandwich that she's waving all around in this crowded restaurant, hmm? I asked again, how long and she said 60 seconds. That 60 seconds was about another 10 minutes.
When she finally returned with the little box, it contained a 1/2 sandwich and a side salad with no dressing. What happened to the box of fries that she threw out? At this point, I was a little frustrated with her "no care" attitude. I just opened the box and discarded the salad and went to speak with the manager. Not sure if this restaurant carried dessert because we were never asked.
The manager seemed a little more concerned than the waitress. I told her that everything was good, but that our waitress left a lot to be desired. I told her that it felt like we were interrupting her day, and as it stood, seemed like we were interrupting her lunch. She offered to get me more fries, but I told her that we'd already spent too much time there and had to leave.
I told the manager that I would return, but that I didn't ever want that waitress to serve me again. The manager then said to make sure that I ask for her when I return so that she can say,...
Read moreAwful dining experience. My wife and I went here on our date night on a Saturday. I'm surprised at all the 4 and 5 star reviews. The place had plenty of personality based on what we saw when we were walking up to it-nice decor and the wait staff all had fun red suspenders on, but our waitress had no personality, nor did the other waiters and waitresses. I only saw one employee smile and that was the long-haired bartender dude, but he wasn't waiting on us. Our waitress couldn't explain to us what paillard meant, which was a word on one of the menu items. She was attentive, however, but that does not make up for all the other bad stuff that happened. We were sat indoors at one of the tall two person tables in the bar area, which made it really difficult for us to hear each other. The music was awful-it was like a crappy night club. We heard Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People twice during our 30 minute dinner. It's a great song, but not good enough to hear twice in a 30 minute window.
We ordered the Crispy Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer to share and the Townhouse Burger for our entrees. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts were awful-burnt, not crispy. I'm pretty sure that instead of a bowl of delicious brussel sprouts, it turned into a bowl of black carcinogens. The burgers were tasty and juicy, but they were more like meatloaf than hamburgers. They came on a nice bun that added flavor, but the burgers had no seasoning, so I am not sure as to how the burger is award winning. I ordered my burger medium, but it came medium well-not cool, and due to the lackluster personality of the wait staff, I didn't feel comfortable making a complaint.
Also, I am pretty sure there was no manager on duty, which might explain why we never had a chance to make any of the things that went wrong during our visit right. In addition to that, there were people, which included all of the servers, coming and going so often that we had almost no privacy. The people in the bar area were packed in like cattle, which was odd considering that not all the tables had people and there empty bar seats at the bar. The bill was $50 for two burgers and some burnt roughage and that was a total rip-off. We will not be back and we will likely tell others to...
Read moreWife and I went for brunch, we generally go for dinner and it's nice to sit outside. We were sat promptly and our server was pleasant, and we ordered immediately. The restaurant started to get busier just after we ordered. As all the tables around us were seated, they ordered and their food started to be delivered timely. Our order was nowhere to be found. I asked the server for an update they said it would be right out, I asked to speak to the manager she explained our order "got lost" in the kitchen. When we received our order it was clear it had been sitting for a long time. I understand that things happen, but this is where the restaurant failed miserably we waited an hour plus for breakfast. I spoke to management about it, who were completely unsympathetic, and borderline rude about their shortcomings with the service. They blamed the kitchen, and didn't even attempt to correct it. They told us they'd "take care of us, next time we come in". Even the customers at both tables next to us noticed how terrible our meal was. The food was so bad I did even attempt to eat it. The tables next to us said we should have walked out without paying. I will never go back, not because it was an off meal, but because of managements complete failure at taking responsibility for a terrible experience. Everyone, every business has an off day, townhouse had several chances to make it right and make us at least feel like they were trying to correct a terrible service. They failed miserably and we wasted not only 2+ hours for a heat lamp crushed breakfast but also were handed a full bill. Terrible experience makes all of our good experiences there a complete wash. As a person who very frequently dines out this was not only one of the worst meals I've ever had, but even more so the worse responses by management to issues that we politely made them aware of. Bad meals happen, it's all about how the restaurant or staff responds and every staff member who spoke to us about our meal failed. We were calm and tipped the waitress well as it was not her fault, but management and ownership failed. I'm not sure if I've ever written a restaurant review before but our experience was so terrible I wanted to...
