Blanco Bowling Club — Restaurant in Blanco

This is a place where mostly locals gather to chat over an inexpensive meal. Most of the wait staff is friendly and good at what they do. The bathrooms are awkwardly placed but very clean and always stocked. The tables and chairs are clean, and I have never had a dirty cup, plate, fork, etc. The biggest problem would have to be in the kitchen. It seems that they struggle to find consistent and experienced cooks that are fast and efficient. Many times they are REALLY slow to get your order out. Other times the breakfast pastries are burnt or undercooked. My husband has ordered 2 breakfast tacos to go several times and had to buy a doughnut instead and leave because it took them longer than 15 sometimes 20 minutes and they still weren't ready. However, when the food does come, it is done correctly about 99% of the time. Breakfast tacos are some of the biggest and best in town, along with their homemade salsa! But there is nothing really special about this place, and I would never choose it as a place to eat when going out with my husband on a date. We have loved this place for years. Sadly they have made changes and we will not be back. The burgers were always great, until our visit today. We should have expected a problem when the couple next to us left their burgers and walked out The meat tasted like saw dust and the waitress said they charge a buck more for freshly made patties. It was obvious that they no longer care about what they serve you. I was given the opportunity to order something else and ordered the catfish plate which is not cheap. Instead of getting the filets that they served in the past, I got tasteles nuggets.. The catfish they served in the past was great. What a letdown. My wife ordered a plate diner. The cheese sauce on her brocollic spread to her pirates and roast beef. The waitress was nice and admitted they had made changes. I stopped in to the cafe for lunch, so this is only a review of the food and not anything else. I ordered the baked chicken, which was accompanied by 3 sides. When the chicken arrived, there were only a few pieces of meat on a pile of bones and fat. It was really weird to be served what seemed like scraps. I pointed out the pile of mess to the waitress who took the plate and went back to the kitchen only to return with basically the same pile of scraps with a small piece of chicken added to the plate. I'm not sure this is typical service or not, but I won't go back. When paying the bill, the cashier asked it everything was alright. I mentioned my dissatisfaction with the chicken but the comment was only taken, nothing was done to make it right.
