My first time here and I’m not even sure what my excuse for not visiting was. This place is so great!! Everyone that works here seems friendly. The beef was not overly salty nor overly smoky. It reminds me of old fashioned Texas bbq, from south Texas where I grew up. The service was a little slow but it seems they cut the meats to perfection, for each slice. I had no idea id be waiting 20 minutes for my food but it was totally worth it.
I sample the wagyu and angus briskets. The wagyu as I understand it is only available on Sundays and they close at 3 pm on Sunday. I might be wrong but I made sure to go on a Sunday to get the Wagyu for comparison.
Both were excellent. I did like the Wagyu better but not by much. The sauces really complimented the meat here, and I’m impressed with the sauce selection. I make my own sauce too at home, and one of these sauces were just like mine, exactly how I like it (the tomato-y sauce). I could drink that stuff if it was warmed up. Again, reminds me of my family’s bbq from years ago.
The sausage was a masterpiece. Very well done and somewhat lean and meaty. I had jalapeño sausage but couldn’t really tell it was jalapeño. But it was very good! Especially with the pickled onions and pickles.
I saw those mega beef ribs everyone was ordering and I must say those were bigger than my head. If you like beef ribs this is the place for you. They also had a lager beer they brewed in collaboration with Real Ale, and since I was headed there, I tried it and it was awesome. I love local stuff like that!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here in Blanco, just stopping by town. I’d definitely recommend this place to family (I already have), and I’d recommend to friends so they don’t miss out either!
Thanks y’all, and keep up...
Read moreIf you aren’t a regular, be prepared to receive less than great service. For the record, I would have given them 5 stars if this was based on the food alone. Unfortunately, my husband and I had a terrible experience here otherwise. We waited in line for about 10 minutes or so before being able to order. Like I said, the food is good so we didn’t mind a bit of a wait. When we got to the cash register, we ordered two lunch specials. The woman at the register proceeded to tell us we couldn’t get the special because it was past 2pm. It was 2:03pm. After we told her we had been there in line since 2, she still wouldn’t give us the special so we ordered something else and went along with our lunch. As we were getting our fixings, we overheard them tell another customer at the end of the line that they would be the last to receive the lunch special. When we complained, we were told that they were regulars so they honored the special for them. We ended up spending DOUBLE what we would have if the special would have been honored. But we aren’t regulars so we had to spend $40 instead of about $20. Terrible customer service here and we will not be going back...
Read moreWhile on travel over the Thanksgiving holiday, I was looking for somewhere to eat between San Antonio and Kingsland. It was only by happenstance that I was on Goldbelly's website, looking for side dishes to take to the in-laws, that I stumbled upon Old 300 BBQ. Since we were pretty much passing right by, we decided to make this our lunch spot.
They have plentiful parking, so that is always a plus. Once inside, you order at the counter. The interior is very rustic, as you would expect a BBQ place to be. As it was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we got their special, the Wagyu Wednesday, which is wagyu for the price of angus (I think it was 1.5 lbs of brisket, figuring we could have leftovers in case nothing was open in Kingsland).
The brisket was delicious, so flavorful and tender. I know we had green beans for a side, and am sure the husband got mac n cheese, and they tasted great.
I love that they had the sauces and all the condiments readily available so you could get what you needed. Overall a great experience and had it not been for them using Goldbelly to ship their food nationwide, I literally would have never known about this...
