Hacienda El Charro — Restaurant in Blanco

Overall, we Googled places to eat after a long day of activities while on the way home. We were able to eat at this place, Haciendo El Charro, and we were able to eat outside on the back patio. Chips and salsa were complimentary. My daughter ordered the Mexican Coke in the bottle. Served cold. My wife ordered coffee and it was made fresh for her. Our son and I had water, and it tasted fine. Green and Red salsa came out with the food and the green salsa was good and not too hot or overpowering. Our daughter ordered the bean and cheese tacos, cheese was.plentiful, but still cold and not melted very much. Our son had the barbacoa, and they were not all meat as we requested. Out of the 2 tacos he ordered, he made 1 complete taco of "fat" so they did replace it with a taco of Carne Asada, no charge. My wife had the carne asada with cheese, bell peppers, and onions, I'll add the correct name later. She enjoyed it and it was good. I had the burrito loc, steak, chicken, and shrimp, all inside the burrito. I substituted the "cheese sauce" for the guisada gravy and melted cheese. It had good flavor and was stuffed accordingly. The service is always good. The prices are reasonable. The food is hit or miss. We get to go orders a lot and they regularly give me the wrong enchiladas. I order cheese and get beef. I will usually eat beef enchiladas but the beef enchiladas here are awful. They have bell peppers, onion, and huge chunks of potato in them. We don't exactly live close by so driving back to get the correct order is kind of a hassle and dissecting an enchilada to make sure its the right kind before I leave is a bit much. The rice and beans are sometimes good sometimes bad. The eggs in the breakfast tacos are full of onions and bell peppers. I'm sure some people like it but I think its disgusting and was surprised by this the one time I ordered breakfast tacos here. Its the only Mexican restaurant in town and my family loves Mexican food so we'll keep going back but I've learned to be careful about what I order and won't order several items I would normally order at a...

I'm from Houston so trying to compare Tex-Mex fare from a little hole in the wall place in Blanco really isn't fair. Having said that, I was surprised how good it was. I always enjoy a good thick corn tortilla chip in the bowl to go with my salsa while I decide what I want from the menu and they didn't disappoint. I had the Cheese Verde enchiladas....pretty tasty. I am a true Texan and enjoy my sweet tea so am a bit disappointed that I had to add my own sugar which we all know does not dissolve well in cold tea. I would have given 5 stars for the service because our waiter was prompt and attentive....However, I guess they deliver the food as it's finished in the kitchen so it's a bit awkward waiting for our parties last person to get their food. I was last....about 3 or 4 minutes from when the first plate hit our table. Overall I will go back when I am in Blaco simply because I cleaned my plate the first time and I happen...
