My husband, kids and myself, had a very disappointing experience at this location. The only reasons why I'm giving one star is so I can post the review and thank the African American staff who came up and talked to my son politely and assured him what happened was not his fault. As a parent, my first instinct is to always protect my children at all cost. When an elderly man goes charging at my son yelling "Did you take this cart? I have a customer throwing a fit because their stuff has been stolen!!!", I will be in defensive mode. Number 1, their 1 patio chair was not stolen because they have not purchased it yet. Number 2, the situation should've been handled in a professional manner, most especially if a manager is involved. If the situation was handled appropriately, it would've been a win for everyone as we would've continued shopping and instead of just purchasing 2 office chairs, we could've placed our patio/outdoor, dining, living room and some bedroom furniture for delivery not only for our house but for our rental property as well. But after this horrific experience, we will patiently deal with the 3-month delivery wait from major furniture stores. Yes, they are much more pricey but they will definitely offer phenomenal service (special shoutout to James of Bob's Furniture in Auburn Hills). I read several rude behavior reviews for this location and surprised a few of them involved managers. I'm sure some will say, it's not a lot but in the field of CUSTOMER SERVICE, it is unacceptable to have a staff, let alone a manager displaying rude behavior towards a customer. At this day and age, I strongly suggest that management and staff undergo a mandatory DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) training. If corporate or the owner need more information about this, I can point you towards the right direction as I am a member of a DEI council. Managers are the ones expected to address customer concerns not the ones escalating the situation. A 12-year old boy should NEVER feel unsafe and threatened by an elderly store manager. I do not believe that the customer is always right but I firmly believe that customers deserve to be treated nicely regardless of age, gender,...
Read moreI selected this location as its close to where I just moved to. I didn’t have a purse or wear any clothes with pockets. I took in my wristlet wallet and my cell phone. Everytike I came out of an aisle here was undercover security. He followed me all around the entire store with nothing in his hands or a cart. I spent about 30-45 minutes browsing in this store and had plans on buying the 2 items in my cart which was a welcome mat and carpet tape. Neither of which I could stuff in my wallet to steal. This location has ruined the impression I had for this store. I have frequently visited the location in Utica and Roseville and actually soent over 300.00 in each of the other stores but this one will never get my business every in life. No one greeted me when I came in the store and all to have some security profile me and follow me around the store. I thought Michigan was way less racist then where I moved from but I see that u can’t be black living in a predominately white neighborhood and go shopping. I literally just moved out this way not even 2 weeks ago and I have never experienced this type of service in any of the other stores I’ve gone in. It’s 2023 if u want to racial profile me then just have sign that says blacks aren’t allowed in your establishment. I even bought my car out of Grand Blac and never experienced this type of racism out in this area. Guess I’ll go back to home goods and where black people should shop. Clearly my money wasn’t good enough for this location. Its really sad that people can judge u before they can even know who u are. This location as for the other locations will not receive my business!!! SMH just moved in an apartment and needed some decor and had no problem maxing out my credit cards to make it comfortable for me! But I know I’ll find better decor without the hassle of being followed around...
Read moreSonja at the registers at this store was incredibly rude to me. A friend and I were checking out and signed up for the email list to save 10%. After you sign up it says you’ll get the coupon by email within 24 hours and it hadn’t come thru yet. We asked the cashier and she said, “it says it everywhere that it takes 24 hours” in a very condescending tone. She told us we could come back and return everything and rebuy it with the coupon, but they don’t do price adjustments. I commiserated in asking what the managers name was at the store and she said, “Karen, but we don’t have anything to do with that you have to call corporate” (I’ll be calling both for sure). She asked me my phone number and it found me in the system. So I asked, if you can see I’m in the system, then why do we need to come back and go through this process to get the 10% off? And she said “because you ain’t got the coupon.” I went on to try to again to commiserate and say, “it sucks for you guys to have to explain that to people who took the time to sign up and are now stuck getting your emails without the discount advertised.” That set her off... she went into a tirade. I told her I just wanted to finish the transaction and leave and she wouldn’t let up. She yelled at me in front of other customers and I had to explain to her that she shouldn’t be acting this way and that I’d be calling corporate. She then yells to one of her coworkers who was not involved to ask him if she was being rude to me..... if she had to ask, she surely was. I went to leave and warned the other guests in line that she was in a bad mood and she yelled back at me, “bye sir! Bye sir! In a nasty tone, laughing.”
She needs to not work with the public and the coupon should be afforded to customers when the sign up, not...
