This is truly a nice above average restaurant as far as decor, food, etc.
Sushi I am not a fan, but a very special friend of mine this was a special occasion - so we went. As the stars I rated, the atmosphere is good. Service pretty good (not 5 star though), and even though I had no opinion on sushi, I graded based on what my friend thought. Food was absolutely 5 stars. Everything prepared perfectly. Tasty. And the food presentation is way above average.
Now I will explain how they fell to only a three star rating: PRICES. I fully understand about prices have risen in restaurants. I also understand sushi restaurants charge more, not just because of fresh fish but probably the pay extended to the amazing chefs that have such talent putting these dishes together. The art of it.
Quite a few other reviews mentioned the prices but I took them lightly just figuring from people that don't dine out regularly anymore, and the realization this restaurant is in a pretty high income area - but my review lost 2 stars; prices were 100% insane. You will love the food, bill not so much.
2 people, I ate light, friend did order more, only ONE drink a piece. $130!!!...
Read moreMy first impression of this restaurant when first walking in was that the restaurant was nicely decorated, elegant yet homey. Our server was very nice and tentative. We order dumplings, a few Sashimi and spicy seafood udon. Dumpling and sauce was normal nothing too great. Sashimi was really good, fresh quality seafood meat pieces. My spicy seafood udon was EXCELLENT! Big portions and with alot of seafood. I am pleased with this dish. Usually I can eat the whole dish at other places with no problems but here it's a different story. I almost couldn't finish it, had to force myself to finish. I loved it, it was so flavorful. This will be my new go to Japanese restaurant..and it's close to home. I will be coming back. To the server, we are sorry our baby made a mess for you. We hope that we compensated you well. Thank you for serving us. The only down side to this place is the parking. While you can park on the side of Olga's there are parking in front too. You could try to park in front of the restaurant, it's only a few parking spaces and it's a bit hard to get out unless you are driving...
Read moreOur food was great. The poor waitstaff were absolutely slammed answering phones, organizing and bagging takeout orders, and handling the other duties that another hourly employee absolutely should take on. The mountain of extra work they had to handle was clearly keeping them from promptly responding to guests and remembering basic requests, like a fork for my boyfriend. They did not have the time to check on us at any point. Our food came out in dribs and drabs, so that I sat there with my sushi for ten minutes before my boyfriend got his bulgogi. We finished everything before my salmon roe nigiri made an appearance. Just total chaos, but in a mostly empty restaurant.
Whatever the owners think they saved by not having enough staff tonight to handle both guests and takeout, paying waitstaff two bucks an hour plus tips to do the work that someone should be making a real minimum wage to do, they are going to lose as people get frustrated and stop returning to...
