I ordered a takeout breakfast at Bob Evans and they gave me an incorrect portion size. My wife called in and complained about it and she was told by a "manager" that she had a refund gift card ready for us.
The next day, my wife went into pick it up, and when my wife checked the balance, there was nothing on it and it said invalid. My wife went back in and told the manager, and she grabbed the card from my wife's hands and said gentle yet intentionally sarcastic "well it doesn't belong to you then." My wife became insulted and asked her why she thought that, and the conversation was regressing, so she called corporate.
A woman who is supposed to be in charge of the managers by the name of Stephany, was supposed to call us, we never recieved a call and no voicemail attempts were made. My wife went back in there a day later and after the same sort of treatment, the manager offered her biscuits and gravy, which was not a replacement for our original order which was more than just biscuits and gravy. He called it a "gesture of good will", and it was his way to try to descalate the situation. Although it was a nice gesture, we knew what they actually thought, but they sent her out with another card for the refund and we weren't supposed to have anymore problems with the new card, but yet again, that card failed us as well when trying to order online, so I went back in there to sort it out and the lady asserted that she gave us a different card than what we had, and that they haven't carried the cards I have in a very long time (which wasn't true at all and can easily be proven false with the video footage I recorded in the store).
She decided to let me take another card of my choice, she scanned it, then told me that it's probably just because they cashiers weren't closing it out after loading it. She said it was on the card, I asked her to check again, and she said it was on there. I actually have the video of most of the conversation. Also, the video briefly shows a glimpse of the card on their shelf that they claim to have not sold in a very long time, which was the exact card I chose! I requested that she check the balance in front of me, and she said that it looks good. I left hoping everything was solved, but on Thursday, they I had no luck with the card when ordering online and it said it was invalid.
Each unhelpful "manager" claims to have witnesses once we inform them that we will escalate this, which I interpret as their claim to have someone who will lie for them since they work at the same restaurant and are treating people so dishonestly. We were treated this way because of poor judgement and zero initiative to hold their own employees accountable, and instead inherently supporting coworkers when they're in the wrong. Excessive gossiping behind the counter could be heard as well during our visits.
After days of exhaustion with these people, I went back in there today, (Saturday) and the lady basically said the same thing she did last time, only this time she was adamant that the cards she gave me was not the cards they carry, which was a flat out lie. Screenshots attached from the video on Thursday (just 2 days earlier) prove this. Her coworkers even took it a step further and lied for her as well, as can be seen on the video.
I became frustrated and insulted by the way we had been repeatedly treated and humiliated by management at the store at Bob Evan's and how they have been insinuating that we're lying and trying to scam them, so I diverted from my normal character and made fun of the woman's clothes once she claimed we were trying to somehow scam them, and I wish I could take that part back.
The police were called by the manager and the videos I obtained during our visits show the poor service and treatment of customers from employees that represent Bob Evan's at the Bloomington Indiana location. The video evidence also exposes the lies. I really wish Google allowed for video uploads. I have footage of kitchen workers wiping their hands on their noses as well as the claims that...
Read moreI recently was hired by the bloomington indiana bob evens. A gentleman named Jesse Bloom hired me as a SERVER after my interview and after being told I had the position he then said would you mind doing a host shift here and there but mostly serving I said why not assuming I would be serving more since that's how he made it seem. I did a week of host and Togo training then 3 days of server training no big deal I have been serving for 8 years. My first day of training I did a tour I immediately took notice in how filthy the kitchen and prep area was. Even the cleaning supplies was disgusting I had to spend 15 minutes scrubbing what looked lik3 dried human feces off a broom..the girl who was training me then proceeds to show me how to clean the bathroom I witnessed this women stick her hand in the tiny trashcan on the walls in the women's bathroom for pads and tampons with no gloves grabbed out all of the used female product that was in it and threw them away in the trash bag she was carrying around did not was her hands at all and returned to doing togo orders. When it came to seeing my schedule I was scheduled nothing but togo shifts. I went to the office with Jesse Bloom alone I formed him I decided I can't do togo I was hired as a server and I wanted to serve. He goes on to inform me there is a manager leaving to go to the Bedford location that if I agree to work the togo shifts for the next two weeks I'm scheduled that I am first in line for server shifts and I wouldn't be scheduled nothing but togo and host. I agreed since I really needed this job. Two weeks goes by and I check the schedule and again I am scheduled nothing but togo. I email Jesse Bloom where he Informs me he u derstands if I want to quit to let him know. I decide to try and go in the next day and be civil and try and figure this out I ask him "when we talked first I said I no longer could do togo and you said I would be first in line for serving shifts" before I could finish my sentence Jesse Bloom looks at me and with the most unprofessional mannerism he says "that is not what we talked about that is not what I said" in continued to inform me I was a "liar". It doesn't make sense is I said I no longer can do togo why this man would then take my serving shifts away from me and give me nothing but togo and host. I let him know I am a human I will not be walked on and treated poorly by a corporation and would be quiting he laughed and gave me a big smile we and said ok. The unprofessional attitude the way I was treated and talked down to and the filthy kitchen and vile disgusting way the servers "clean bathrooms" was...
Read moreI have visited this Bob Evans on several Sundays over the last few months. The restaurant has been severely understaffed each time I’ve been there with maybe ~4 employees serving the whole restaurant. This results in long waits despite many empty tables in the dining room as I assume the host doesn’t want to overwhelm the servers by seating too many people in their sections. Having worked in the restaurant business for years, this really angers me. This is not a one time occurrence, it has occurred every time in my experience and could be easily remedied by scheduling more servers for the busy Sunday shift.
Additionally, service is at best a 5/10 and is typically much worse as the servers struggle to manage their large sections. Once, after waiting 30 min to be seated, we waited 50 min for our food as the waitress failed to take our order in a timely manner. We felt ignored and frustrated as we watched people who sat at the counter long after we were seated get their food moments after our order was finally taken. I understand that the kitchen/restaurant likely gets backed up during a busy shift so I don’t mind a small delay, but that was ridiculous!
The main problem here is that the food is really good and affordable. By the time we finish our meal, we forget how annoyed we were by the experience. That’s why we’ve returned again and again. But as we are treated badly again and again, we feel more angry each time. Therefore, despite a delicious meal yesterday, I will not be returning to...
