I've given this place a few tries -- each time hoping it would be better -- but I've basically learned that, if you're plus-sized, skip this place and head somewhere else. That was especially shown to me when I went in for my first sales experience. I've been to other Style Encores and been able to buy multiple things each time (ex. dresses, jeans, blouses, jackets, jewelry, shoes, etc.), but I never can find anything decent in the 1X and up range at this location. I recently brought in a few bags of my own clothing to see if the store would buy any of it. I definitely wasn't so naive as to think they'd gleefully buy every piece, but I figured they'd be able to use about half of it. These were pieces I'd gotten in the past two to four years at places like Kohls, Forever 21, maurice's, Charlotte Russe, Lane Bryant, Torrid, Target, CJ Banks, and Carson's. I've seen these same labels at this Style Encore as well as other SE locations. The majority of the styles and cuts were from recent seasons and used materials and motifs that are still prevalent in mainstream fashion. I also checked to make sure there were no stains, rips, or worn patches in the garments. Some of them still had tags. They ended up taking just a few non-garment accessory items and -- get this -- my GRANDMOTHER'S plaid shirt she bought at Wal-Mart. I was so shocked that I only managed to ask, "So... could you tell me a little about your selection process?" The staff kindly explained that they look for daily wear and tear (I'm a big girl. I know to check for thigh rub on pants.), trending styles (Again, bought things as recently as 6 months ago), and whether or not they think they can sell the merchandise on the floor. The last point, coupled with previous frustration on lack of plus-size variety, basically told me that my fat girl clothes were not needed at this location. I took the cash they offered for the few items they picked, gathered my bags of clothes, and proceeded to drop them at Goodwill as my last resort. In the future, I'll be driving to Terre Haute's Style Encore where the selection is better, and I know I can get some great deals like I have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook clothes in and wasn't even greeted. Walked up to check in and said hello and the girl looked at me and said hi like it killed her to greet someone. The staff that has started here in the last few months is extremely rude. I keep going back because I used to love the store but it just isn't the same anymore. A lot of the staff is younger so only seem to want to buy clothes they would wear and not many plus size clothing or adult clothing. Not sure why they are working at Style Encore and not Plato's closet. I've also noticed the women who do buy more so adult clothing and plus size work during the day. I brought that up to the girl working last night and she said well I work tomorrow morning too like I wasn't allowed to bring it in to have those ladies look at it. Just completely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been in here a couple times. The clothes are cute and reasonably priced. I didnāt put five stars because the unfriendly staff. :( They pick and choose who gets what with holds. My mother commented first on an item but the second person in the comments got the hold. They told my mother she was next in line. She had commented 20 minutes before the other person had. I could even post screenshots to prove so, however it wonāt let me on a review like this. Contact me if you want proof. And if a manager is reading this that works there, please please please get a nicer staff. I know itās hard working in retail, Iām a waitress so I know it...
