Run, dont walk, to the best Mexican food in town! We have been bereft of good options since leaving California in 2010. But that ended today! Super fresh ingredients with attention to details - warm chips, homemade everything, and well seasoned/marinated meats. Excellent authentic options full of flavor without being too spicy (although they have options for that). I had the huaraches - a masa "boat" with beans pressed into it and then fried and topped with steak, lettuce, tomato, crema, avocado and queso fresco. My companion had a chivo (roasted goat) taco and a chicken tamale. Both were some of the best we've ever had. The tamale was large but perfectly cooked, steamed in banana leaves instead of corn husks - not too dry, not too moist and tender. The chicken was also moist and full of flavor with green chiles - spicy but doable for most. Everything was on point, including the horchata. Service was friendly and efficient, pricing was reasonable and portions generous. Can't wait to return - I want to try their sopes, tortas and...
Read moreTaqueria Acapulco is a great Mexican place on the square. They give you chips and salsa to start which were great. We were there for an early dinner on Saturday hoping to get the Birria, but they did not have it. We had the Tinga Quesadilla and the Enchiladas instead, both were good. The quesadilla is a great size for the price, and I enjoyed the cheese, lettuce, and tomato being on the top rather than inside. I had never had a fried quesadilla, but the crunch was nice. The enchiladas were also filled with chicken that was flavorful, but the sauce was a bit overpowering. It came with a very small side of rice which was seasoned well. I don’t think I’d get them again because they were expensive for what you get… overall the experience was good - friendly staff, lots of tables including outside seating,...
Read moreThe food was awesome and very authentic. The tacos are a simple, but delicious approach to tacos that you can't find in a lot of other places. Their tamales were also great and would highly recommend. This is not tex mex. There's nothing wrong with tex mex but if you are looking for queso this isn't the place. I see some reviews mentioning that as a negative, but that's just silly, as is complaining about paying for parking in downtown Bloomington as if you don't have to pay for parking everywhere. Ignore the 1 star reviews, I feel like those people's idea of good Mexican food is taco bell or something because I just...
