The Orbit Room is not a safe space for people of color. I was treated very poorly in front of my child and when my husband tried to defend me as a real man should defend his family, they gaslighted him as if he was the aggressor to cover for their unacceptable behavior. Spend your money elsewhere. It’s crowded, not enough seating, over priced and the staff is rude.
Lady with short red hair has a very nasty attitude.I arrived very early before a jazz performance I accidentally sat at a reserved table because it didn’t have a sign. The waitress took my order and afterwards then told me the table was reserved. I explained I was unaware of that and got up immediately and asked where to sit as my husband was playing in the performance. She said “I don’t know where you’re going to sit you just can’t sit here.” I found that incredibly rude seeing how I’m there all the time and always spend a pretty penny besides my husband is why you’re making money tonight!
I let it go and didn’t return that energy even if she deserved it. Went back for my husband’s next performance and the same lady came back and brought menus, then came back 10 minutes later and said are you going to order anything and I said I hadn’t decided yet and she said these tables are for table service only implying I needed to leave if I wasn’t ordering and basically tried to make me leave yet again.
I should mention I was the only black woman in the restaurant both times. The manager came over and started yelling at me asking me what my problem is and I told him my story but he argued with me on behalf of the waitress. Plz keep in mind, I completely kept my cool as this gig was important to my husband.
Finally my husband had enough and told them to leave me alone and they banned us from the restaurant. Even their reply to my complaint and concern doesn’t acknowledge that I was consistently being asked to leave unprovoked before my husband stood up for me and my daughter.
These people are unprofessional and potentially racists. I have been to many restaurants/bars with my husband and have NEVER been treated so rudely. I don’t recommend this place if you care about treating people with common decency.
No one stood up for us and no one was interested in trying to calmly figure out common ground. When I politely asked the waitress if we could talk to calmy figure out the problem, she walked away which led my husband to ask why do you have a problem with my wife. He initially didn’t yell, just asked and they told him we were no longer welcome there which set him off. Where is the concern for the root of the problem, zero tolerance for HATE and DISRESPECT?? Please don’t support the Orbit Room. It’s 2024 we need to be...
Read moreI love the Orbit Room because they care about their staff and their customers. I know when I come there to dine or just get drinks that they're doing everything they can to make everyone feel safe during a pandemic. The atmosphere is great with colorful lights, the music is always fun, and the food is unbeatable. Plus it has pinball and unique programming you can't get at any other restaurant/bar in town. The bands that come through there will always leave you with a good experience. Plus the monthly movies with Cicada Cinema are sure to get you to step out of your comfort zone and see something new. If you haven't tried them yet you are missing out on a true gem. Getting your food to go is always an option and sometimes they even do...
Read moreI suggest putting a "we will take online orders during this time frame" on your website. Two days in a row, tried to order. Each time it's only available to make orders for the next day. The one time we were able to make an order months ago, my friend loved it. Insanely expensive though. Jeez... Still, it was meant to be a treat for her. But... Two hours before closing? Nope. Out of luck. It's becoming so frustrating to discover this magical window of opportunity that I gave up. Obviously they rely on foot traffic or regular customers to remain in business, that they could care less about online ordering. Definitely a missed...
