I'm going to start with the food was decent but with a waitress like Casey we had a BAD taste in our mouths. We arrived and the restaurant was fairly empty at 2:30 on Mother's Day. We were seated promptly and our drink orders were taken by a waitress. About 5 - 7 minutes Casey comes by to take them again. They were out of ingredients for a bloody Mary, Jim beam and another drink's liquor my dad ordered so he just gave up and went with crown and coke. We were going to order the Focaccia bread appetizer and they were out of the bread too. Ummm what?!!? It's Mother's Day and you'd think they'd be stocked for people coming in to celebrate 🙄🙄🙄🙄. We went with the spinach and artichoke dip. We waited and waited then 10 minutes in Casey came by to take our entree orders and when asked if our dip would be out soon I was told it'd be a few minutes because they were still cooking it. That was fine with us it was just that it got more and more annoying as time slipped by. A few more minutes later we started getting the feeling the dip would come out with our meals. I finally saw Casey coming out of the back and flagged her down again and said it's been almost 20 minutes at that point. She said MA'AM I TOLD YOU ITS COMING OUT SOON with the most snotty attitude 😡😡😡😡. I about lost it but reminded myself it was Mother's Day. It's not busy so should we just cancel it?!!? I was assured with a crabby face she'd check on it. LOW AND BEHOLD it came out immediately. I can only assume it sat there while she did whatever she was doing in the back. It's not like she was coming out to help a bunch to the 2 tables she had (with us being one of them). Still at this point they are not busy and the restaurant is still maybe 1/4 full. Our appetizer wasn't steaming hot but just enough it didn't need blown on to cool off 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Anyways our food comes out about 10 more minutes later. My mom's steak was well done but ordered medium well, my chicken on my salad was dry and my husband's prime rib wasn't med rare it was more medium. My parents ordered more drinks before our meal and our 22 minute appetizer which were finally served as they were eating entrees already. Casey had ONE table of 6 sat after us. During this time she'd on it js. We had to ask for water when our appetizer came too. It didn't go unnoticed there was (for some reason) an empty 6 top table beside us that had fresh plates and silverware and water in each glass with a pitcher like it was a reservation that never came ugh!!!! Overall the place was pretty inside but the service, food timing AND cooking needs serious work. I should have made reservations elsewhere!!!! I did call the manager the next day. I filled him in on everything that happened. I told him I couldn't just do a review without giving a tone to Casey's voice and pathetic attempt at being hospitable to the guests. Had it not been Mother's Day this situation would of ended up with us immediately going elsewhere. So much for trying something new in a different town!

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Malibu Grill on Saturday, April 5, 2025, along with three other couples—and we truly couldn't have asked for a better dining experience. From the moment I called ahead to secure a table, the service was seamless, thoughtful, and welcoming. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, striking the perfect balance between energetic and comfortable. Every dish we ordered was outstanding—beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly crafted. The drinks were equally impressive, with unique cocktails and perfectly mixed classics that kept our group smiling all evening. What really set the evening apart, though, was the impeccable service. The Malibu staff went above and beyond at every turn—our server Cooper was attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being overbearing. It’s rare to find a place where every detail is so well-executed. We left feeling full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Malibu Grill will always have a spot on our list of favorite Bloomington establishments!

Did a vodka gimlet (the server didn't know what that was), followed by a burger and some red wine. Burger was very basic "Midwest" burger and the fries were a bit soggy and heavily salted. The gimlet was good, but it just had a sliced lime. The wine list on the menu was the big issue. They had a number by the glass, but basically had nothing in stock. Ended up with a mediocre California red. While eating (outdoor table) I overheard issues from other tables such as moldy bread with one dish, and the wrong dressing on a salad. The staff was friendly but didn't seem experienced. I hope the restaurant was just having an off night, but I don't think I'll try it again. The menu is not focused at all, and that's how it was with the wine and food. A lot of traffic goes by the restaurant, so a few really annoying people with no mufflers zip by every so often to break up conversations.

Went here to celebrate our 18yr anniversary. Chose this restuarant based on their star rating. We were sat right away and had a wonderful server! The bread, spinach dip and wedge salad wereall good. My husband ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye (medium) and I ordered the 8oz Filet (medium). His steak was served well done and mine was rare. This was not a big deal at first, we understand that this is always a possibility when we order steaks anywhere that we go. We are pretty easy to get along with. It was the response from the Chef and kitchen staff when the server took it back. This is an open kitchen and our table was the closest to them. He claimed the Hawaiian steak is marinated and will appear more done than usual. Ok, but it was also dry which means it was cooked too long. It complained about having to cook another one. He then saw mine and said to just throw it on the grill, I guess they should have ordered it medium well then. I'm sorry but a deep red/purple inside is not medium. Then other staff circled around our steak chiming in as well. One even said it was overcooked. The other's didn't care because they then started eating it themselves! This continued on until the server brought them back out to us. At this point, I was so disappointed by the behavior, especially the lack of professionalism from the chef, knowing he has an open kitchen so his guests can hear them! If I didn't hear nor see any of this, it would have been a different story. The new ribeye was better but the Filet was still wrong. Half of it was medium with a very well done edge and the other half was still only medium rare. We did speak with the manager and apologized for saying something but if this was a professional upscale chef, he needed a reminder that his guests can hear them. The manager agreed that my steak was still wrong at which point I told him I would just eat the half that was correct because I didn't want to send it back again. He did take my steak off of the bill which was appreciated. The server was extremely apologetic and made every attempt that she could to correct the situation. We appreciated her service very much! In the end, we will not eat here again as the prices were not acceptable for the quality of food that we received nor was the...

Don’t get me wrong the food was great. But initially our greeting was hi, do you have a call ahead reservation? We said no and we’re told 35-45 minute wait. That was ok with us considering the area, the game and the venue it’s self. We weren’t asked for a name or anything. Another hostess then asked us because we were giving her the menu back the first host gave us while we waited if we’d like to be put on the waiting list then. Are we not already on it? What’s our name she asked. Told our name but said it was never asked before. She sat us almost immediately. Our waiter was what we thought was gonna be great, personality wise but not so much. Offered bread and didn’t bring it. We asked them for it and he brought a whole basket but poured one little plate with the oil and left. Thirty minutes later came back for our order. About a 15 minute wait for our first round of drinks. We watched people be sat and served well before we were even asked to order. Food came rather quickly, no shrimp on the salad, mashed potatoes were very dry and never once were we asked how everything was. It was good! But we paid a hefty bill for less then service, almost treated as if we didn’t belong. With these prices we’d expect a level of service that’s comparable and that’s no where near what we received today. We researched where to eat and this was our final decision we’re not completely unsatisfied just disappointed. Still tipped my 15% even tho that’s not what was earned having been in the same shoes before I just hope next time is better we’d come back again just need a different...
