An immaculate operation with unparalleled product! When you first enter Russo's, you will be pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the market and the well-ordered and generously spaced displays of seafood. Unlike other famous fish markets of San Francisco and New York, which boasts high volumes of fish, Russo's has wisely chosen the route of quality over quantity. Absent are the tightly packed, overcrowded trays of fish crowded on half melted ice. Instead, the whole fish display is presented in a tidy and attractive manner. Frozen fillets are kept in a separate freezer section in the opposite side of the store.
Behind the central counter of check out registers, you are welcome to a view of the fish mongers dressed in their rubber boots and overalls cleaning, gutting, and filleting fish. Similar to the front-of-house, the back operations are kept amazingly clean in spite of the nature of the work.
Lastly... the fish. To say that the quality of the fish is world-class does not convey the accolades that it deserves. The texture of the salmon is perfection - melting in your mouth like butter; the Walleye has a fresh, sweet flavor rivaled only by the Mediterranean branzino; the tuna has a delicacy as if entire steaks were taken from the exquisite toro section of the fish.
Russo's exceeds its rivals like the famous fish markets of NYC including Citronella and the Lobster Place. It is a local gem that shines brighter than its...

Cut and "ready to cook" section...frozen offerings, like salmon, and calamari and monkfish...oysters - fresh...on the half shell ready for steaming...pre-shucked or still in the closed shell awaiting steaming...whole fish! BIG fish! They will clean them, filet them, skin them...whatever you want! The big board tells you exactly where the fish came from. Crabmeat...canned or fresh. Crab stew in the fridge. Immaculately clean! All kinds of "fish go-withs"...sauces...breadings...grits...cornmeal...hush puppy mixes...hot sauces...tarter sauces...cocktail sauces. My favorite part? Watching the folk in the back. AMAZING! Sorting. Cleaning. Icing. Fish. FRESH fish! I was so busy watching and learning, that I never took a picture. I certainly will next time! About 3 blocks off Bluffton Parkway...across from Red Cedar Elementary School. Really,...
Read moreI was attending a CHARITY EVENT in support of WOUNDED MILITARY HEROS at lot 9 tonight. I got there at 5.30pm and due to the awesome support this event received parking spots were limited. I checked Russo's store hours and as they close at 4.30pm I assumed parking there would be ok. WRONG. So $200 ( only accepted cash) later, the tow company dropped my car. Apparently other people at the event experienced the same treatment. Ironically some people who were at the event actually shop at this store ( my wife included periodically) but will be boycotting it going forward. I am a big supporter of supporting local businesses but this one will not be seeing us any time soon. My ask to the business is give my $200 to the WOUNDED MILITARY HEROES cause. I don't care about the money - it is...
