Upon entering this quaint little dinner we were were greeted with a smile, and sent to the other room to stand in line to order. It took some time to find the menus as they were obscured by the patrons already standing in line, waiting to order. Not having been there before, it took me some time to decide what I wanted, and after much deliberation (not seeing a steak on the menu. I mean, come on, this is Texas and it says Grill, outside) I realised that we hadn't moved but one spot in line. Speed of service was an issue. I decided to go with the a la carte menu and I simply ordered eggs, bacon and sausage. I try not to eat sweets and excessive carbs, and this place is sugar heaven. The pastries looked very good and it was hard to say no. After ordering, empty tables were scarce (this place is small and they do draw a crowd). I selected one of the bar tables against the wall, whereupon I had to move chairs around to get one that wasn't missing parts. Now, they did call my name relatively quick, but I did not enjoy having to carry heavy plates back to my table without a tray of some sort; also, there were no knives to be had, there was no butter for the pancakes, the syrup bottle was sticky and I had to ask a fellow patron to use their salt and pepper. Food was good, but the sausage patty was like that thing you get on a McDonalds breakfast sandwich. If it were my, unique restaurant, I would be making my own sausages. The blueberry pancakes were large, but they were flat, dense and tasted like a box mix with canned blueberries. I didn't order the pancakes. My wife did. Will I go back? Maybe. Everyone deserves a second chance, I guess. I work in the food business, so I don't get out for breakfast very often, & I understand running a restaurant. They are very nice people and I'm sure they...
Read moreWhen I lived in Boerne, I ate here pretty frequently & always enjoyed it, especially the sweet potato hash. This was my first time back since I moved away, and I was so disappointed! This place has really gone downhill, I hope the managers/ owners read their reviews & make improvements. Starting with the few positives, I like the new layout of the seating, though I would encourage you to add a "Welcome!" or, "Enter" sign on the new access door, rather than just the "Exit Only" sign board at the former entrance, it's confusing & not very inviting. The kids you have working there were their usual sweet & attentive selves. However... To begin, they had run out of sweet potato hash, bummer, but ok. I ordered the migas plate instead, along with an iced coffee with a pumpkin spice shot & my husband had the biscuits, gravy & eggs. We were told they had no iced coffee...what?!?! But I always get iced coffee! They said no one had come in early enough to make some! They offered an Americano on ice instead. The pumpkin shot tasted moldy, I couldn't finish it, it was gross. Then our meals came out, we asked for salsa & the kid said they had none! How in the world do you cook migas, huevos rancheros & breakfast tacos and NOT have salsa?!? For crying out loud, send someone to HEB for a few jars to get you by until you can make some! The portions have gotten smaller. My refried beans were barely lukewarm. The four strands of cheese garnishing the top was a cold joke. My husband's meal was also small & he said it tasted only alright. He won't go back, but I said I'd give them a couple of months to improve & I'll try again, but that will be the last chance if there's no improvement. It made me sad...
Read moreThe customer is never right. I went here specifically because I was told they have meat in their gravy for biscuits and gravy. While ordering, I specifically asked, "Do you have meat in the gravy" because I have been looking for good biscuits and gravy in the area. I was told that they do. So I decided to order an omelet and asked for a side of biscuits of gravy. Picture is attached. A piece of sausage on the side is not meat in the gravy. I took plate to person who already made me pay for my meal. She said it was a communication break down, they normally cut it up and put it on the top. Putting sausage on the top, is not gravy with meat on it. I was offered no discount or to make it right. I went back today (5-18) and talked to someone higher up, I think the cook. I asked for some credit or to make it right and even showed him the picture. He literally said he didn't know what I meant. I explained to him, the gravy and meat are added together, that is what I wanted. He made some lame excuse about they have to cater to vegetarian people, I can't make this up. They refused to make it right even though, from their own description on menu it even says "gravy topped with chunks of sausage." So even though, no one working here seems to understand what gravy with meat means, they still aren't honoring what their menu says and will not compensate me for their mistake. Now that I have ate here twice, I won't come back. It's really no better than IHOP or Denny's. I never tried the coffee, so maybe that's why people go here. I will say, they are inexpensive. It's sad that once they have your money, they don't care about the customer any longer. Highly...
