Stayed in the Jasmine Room at the Kendall for a weekend wedding and enjoyed my stay. The Jasmine room is perfect for a couple or one person, the bed was very comfortable and the sitting area was cute and well lit. The walk in shower could use a cleaning, an unclogging and a shower door instead of curtains. I was stood in about 2 inches of water from the clog in the plumbing, for every shower. The location of The Kendall is within walking distance of shopping, breweries and restaurants and they do offer shuttle service if scheduled ahead of time or they are on the premises so that is great! They do not have shuttle services to drop off or pick up from the airport if your flights are super early or super late, which is an issue because Lyft and Uber do not pick up here with any consistency. You will need to arrange a ride. The rooms are all unique and different. I was able to see them all as we had many wedding guests staying. I preferred the rooms by the dipping pool and the Jasmine Room, to The cabins. The cabins are definitely more rustic and not as luxury. One thing I will say is, if you plan on having a wedding here and your wedding guests would like to stay up late (past 10PM) to celebrate, you will be asked to go back to your rooms after quiet hours. It doesn't matter if you have booked out a bunch of rooms, there are other guests and The Kendall will honor those that complain. We were told to go back to our rooms despite not having any music on, just celebrating and talking loud due to our excitement out by the fire, and we were shut down. HAHAHAHA!
Pros - unique rooms, affordable price, stunning property, walking distance to almost everything, shuttle to and from airport during certain hours, shuttle to town if needed, restaurant on property. Staff was sweet, beds are comfortable, air conditioning is amazing, decor is adorable, bar is fun, Boerne is a great town. Cons - No room service, you need to order from the restaurant and wait, no shuttle to airport for early morning flights, no wiggle room on quiet hours even if you just got married, the bath and shower bar soap is TERRIBLE,...
Read moreThe staff was very friendly and attentive, even people who appeared to be maintenance, housekeeping, or landscaping. They all made sure to say hello or ask if we needed anything if they walked past us. The main lobby is warm and welcoming.
We had booked the Waco Cabin which was incredibly charming and lovely, however we had to move and were relocated to the Erastus Reed. Because I we stayed for both spaces, I will review each below:
Waco Cabin We opened the door and fell in love with the charm. The wooden cabin was simple, classic, and well decorated. I loved the details in the room and it was perfect for two. We also loved the seating outside and the beautifully landscaped courtyard outside the cabin. We did not stay here long, as we had to leave because the bed broke (My husband gently sat down on the bed to put on his shoes and it slowly collapsed on him - I am certain they will repair it or replace it, as they seem really attentive to details). Additionally, the gate near this cabin was very difficult to open and the shower curtains in this room are not weighted, so it just sticks to you as you shower - not great if you get nervous in tight spaces!
Erastus Reed I am not going to lie, we were very disappointed to have to move to another room, especially one that was in the main hotel, rather than a cabin. It very much lacked the privacy we were after on our weekend getaway. The room is right upstairs from the main lobby, and while it was mostly quiet, we just never felt privacy in that space, despite it being an "upgraded" suite. My last complaint is that there is no door between the bedroom and bathroom so depending on your relationship with your roommate and how your tummy is doing, that can be a little awkward! This bed was much sturdier and the bathroom was massive and regal. Another perfectly decorated space as well. I know I just listed a lot of complaints, but if you are not looking for alone-in-a-cabin type privacy, this room is honestly very beautiful and...
Read moreWe stayed Thursday-Monday over Mother’s Day with two adults and an infant. The staff was fantastic!! Every person we interacted with was super helpful from finding us a mini-fridge for milk for the baby to letting us borrow a high chair when we found out the reception hall in San Antonio didn’t have a high chair available.
We stayed in Jane, one of the cheaper rooms. The bed was super comfy and there was just enough room for the pack-n-play. No tub, but we knew that before arrival and planned accordingly. The biggest surprise was there was no closet or chest of drawers, only a few over-the-door hooks behind the bathroom door. Even a floating closet rod would have been super helpful to hang our formal attire.
The facility felt 110% safe. The property is surrounded by fences with gates that require a code (given to guests) to enter/exit. Well lit property but not so much to keep up the guests at night. Quiet, even on a busy weekend! Masks were not required for guests due to city ordinance but all the staff wore masks and acted responsibly.
As much as I want to give 5 stars I cannot. The hotel needs some upkeep. None of the repairs needed are big, it is all little stuff: doors needing to be stripped and re-painted, door handles and bathroom hardware refurbished, hinges and door frames cleaned/adjusted to close better, tile grout needing to be cleaned and repaired, decking rotted in places and needs some patch work to make it safe, outdoor lights have broken bulbs (which scared me with a baby crawling)... seriously just little things that need a little TLC. I did speak with the staff and they were open to the feedback and thankful to be informed, so kudos! I left believing they will get the repairs done given a bit of time.
I would absolutely stay here again, and if you are looking for a wedding venue this place is adorable with places for your guests to party and stay...
