My wife and I took a trip from Austin to Boerne specifically to try Compadres. I love the owners content online and I love what he does for the veteran community. I ordered the Al Carbon Beef Fajita Tacos with Rice and Charro Beans. Presentation was exactly what you'd expect, nice amount of protein per taco and generous serving of rice, beans and salsita. The Fajitas were proper tender and smoked to the Gods however I wished they would of had some charr on them, truly would of made of big difference on flavor that was missing. Tacos came out on single corn tortillas and unfortunately fell apart as I ate them with condiments included. Rice was ok but definitely needs improvement as well as the Charro Beans which had an overwhelming beer taste that hid the flavors of the beans and spice. My wife ordered the Raspberry Chipotle Pulled Pork Tacos. The Pork had a light smoke flavor and that was about it, definitely could use more flavor. The Raspberry Sauce was a bit unbalanced with it being a little too sweet. Like my Fajita Tacos the Pulled Pork came out on single tortillas and unfortunately fell apart especially since hers had more product in them. Maybe I caught them on an off day but I left there sadly underwhelmed. Service and staff impeccable, Jasmine did a table check and was polite. Like any place there's always room for improvement, good luck on the journey.

Read moreMy wife has been wanting to go there for a while. She likes watching the live videos of Chef Mark and the food looks amazing. Since I work 3rd shift I have to wait to go in on my days off. We went on Monday, Colombus Day 2025. We traveled to Boerne, Texas from Manor, Texas; east of Austin. This place DID NOT disappoint. We had the Hill Country Botana Platter and the Fideo. Beef and Chicken fajitas were tender and smokey with cheese, queso, quacamole. It all worked. Growing up with my grandma's fideo I know what tastes good to me and I am particular about my fideo. The fideo had great flavor and tasted excellent. We both loved it. Once the fajitas and the cheese quesadillas were gone we washed it all down the the nachos that were hiding underneath. Loved the platter concept. Great Tex-Mex food and flavor. Good portions. Good prices and good service. Overall the food was/is EXCELLENT. We are planning our next trip out there and I am planning on taking some time off to come in on a Saturday. BTW, she also wants to see the Christmas lights coming up this holiday season 2025 in downtown Boerne. If you like Tex-Mex foods and BBQ flavors, I highly recommend this place. It is a bit out of the way for us but definately worth the road trip through the Hill Country...
Read moreI have been to Compadres a few times so far and have yet to be disappointed with the food, the experience, and the people. Chef Mark does inform people upfront of the menu items, the hours and the specials. There are so many restaurants that do not take the time and share this information to the customers. Unfortunately I am only able to drive out on Saturday mornings but I make the best of it and try different menu items and of course the Saturday specials. I am a very picky person when it comes to food and this place ranks high so that is what will keep me going back going forward. Expect a wait on the weekend so get there early and enjoy your coffee in line. Back to the food: the combinations and recipes that chef puts out are very delicious and sometimes brings you back to your childhood or at least mine. Keep up the awesome work and look forward to many more drives up to Boerne. Definitely appreciate your service and the work you do with the Purple Heart Foundation and the support to give to the Gold...
