Cork And Keg — Restaurant in Boerne

The Cork and Keg is an amazing gem here in Boerne. The wine selection is top notch and very well priced. The food is absolute perfection. The menu has something for everyone. We enjoyed a delicious sandwich and I think the best Pad Thai I have ever had last visit. The ambiance and attention to detail of the architecture and decorations of the restaurant make you feel like you are in a warm and inviting place you would want to return for a nice meal and glass of wine. The staff are very inviting, and well versed on the extensive offering of delicious wines. You can tell this is a great place to work just from talking to the people that work there and seeing the same smiling faces year over year. They also do wine tastings throughout the year where you taste a variety of delicious wine and learn so much about each variety of grape and how to properly identify the proper tasting notes and a lot of history behind the type of wine. Very disappointed. Me and my husband visited about 4 months ago and had a wonderful experience. The food and drinks were great, the restaurant was clean and the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. We visited again and had a terrible experience. First of all, the parking was now paid only. We had to walk half way down Main Street to even get the the restaurant. Secondly, the restaurant seemed dirtier and a little more unorganized than it was last time. Thirdly, the new staff seemed a bit “off”. The staff didn’t appear to be enjoying themselves and made me and my husband very uncomfortable. Cleanliness: appeared to be well kept and clean

Comfort: seating was extraordinarily uncomfortable and tables were a poor choice for a food venue

Menu: stick with pizza, burgers, and beer as the ceviche was room temperature and less than desirable as to freshness. Made me wonder what else might be wrong in the kitchen.

Staff: seemed responsive enough, but very unfriendly. By reference to other reviews, this does not appear to be an isolated incident. Based on management's response to my initial review, perhaps the wait staff is just following the lead of management and/or ownership as to how they treat customers.
