The food was really good. I was expecting there to be a larger selection of tamales, but there were only 3 basic ones and 3 fruit ones. The tacos were street tacos (onion and cilantro). We ordered a large order of guacamole, it came with a small order of chips. Chips were done and still half an order of guacamole. The guacamole was really good so I can't complain too much. Chips were tasty. Tasted purchased and not freshly made. The tamales were really good. The masa to pork ratio was off. Waaaaay more masa than meat. I would have liked thw tamale to be slightly bigger with a slightly thinner and even masa with more meat. It was good. aAll that guacamole I had left I put it on top. The salsas were tasty. The tomatillo was a little spicy, but was perfect with the guac. As for the kids menu. They do have a dedicated kids menu. Street tacos or quesadillas. My kids were highly unimpressed with the street tacos. Prob should have got the quesadillas or added some lettuce and tomato to their tacos. Overall food was great

But anyways, this tamale place was on a busy strip, midlothian parkway. If you don’t know what to look for, you will 100% miss it. There’s no hours of operation on the door. So I’m not sure of when they’re open. Anyways, the inside is small and clean. It’s decorated nicely. The hostess behind the counter was very polite. I was offered either 2 tamales, 2 tacos or 1 taco and 1 tamale. Since I was taking mine to go, I opted for the tamales. I ordered 1 chicken and 1 pastor tamale. They were flavorful and brought back fond memories from my childhood. I haven’t had tamales in forever. I had the jimica drink aka hibiscus and it was soooo good. It was worth the drive up.

What an awesome hidden gem! I stopped by The Tamale Factory as part of a Yelp Elite event and tried the tamale de res, cerdo, horchata, and taco al pastor - every bite was full of love and flavor. The tamales were perfectly seasoned, this al pastor taco is to date my favorite al pastor taco and I have HIGH taco standards. The horchata was beautifully balanced - IYKYK. I can't wait to back and explore more items of their menu and especially bring my dad here when he visits from Miami. Tamales is something we only get to enjoy in December and that's if you happen to know someone that keeps the tradition alive, making The Tamale Factory extra special.
