Bland, overcooked and overpriced food that is not worth the value. ($15.77 for the burger only, no seasoning, no condiments, no sides) Half the time it’s so hot I’m not sure whether the A/C is on and the fruit flies can sometimes get bad. The servers are friendly enough, if a bit slow to attend to those not consuming alcohol. There is a tendency of over serving. (It was 4:30p and the guy next to us drank 5 bourbons in the hour we were there.) We’ve lived in Bonita for about 23 years and frequented Malloy’s 6-8 times per month for the first 15 or so. But it’s just become a place for the same few people who come in for the Happy Hour specials to hang out with the staff who are sometimes drinking with them. Even during weekdays there at quite a few obscenely obnoxious drinkers yelling profanities across the restaurant, I can’t even bring kids here anymore. It’s unfortunate because we live next door and can walk here, but it’s honestly not worth it anymore. I left my loyalty card there tonight because we won’t be going back for the foreseeable future, if ever.
UPDATE after Owner response:
Dear Owner, This wasn’t just a one-time bad experience. Read the review again to see that there has been a decline in the quality of food for years. In the last few though, your prices have risen whilst delivering less (burgers used to come with fries, then you took the fries away and gave coleslaw, but now you don’t even give coleslaw), and so thusly the value just isn’t there. I truly hope for improvements because I used to love your place, and I would love to come back. P.S. The trivia machines started out great and plenty to go around. Now you’ve only got about 6 or so that properly function. I’m given the excuse that they’re not worth fixing because nobody uses them, but I submit that people stopped using them because you stopped...
Read moreWould never go back here again! Tried this place on two separate occasions and both times had horrible service… We walked in at 8pm on a slow night took at least 20 mins to get our first round of drinks for six people. We tried to order food but that took another 20 min after our first drink. All while we watched our waiter take multiple smoke breaks in front of us. At the same time a table that sat right next to us who came in the exact same time had received their food and 2 pitchers of beer. When the food came out it was okay, but we had one big problem. One of the guys at the table had ordered 5 wings tossed in honey mustard, instead he got 5 sides of honey mustard and no wings……… we then long had empty beer glasses and asked for another round. We did not receive that second round of beers until 10:30pm. We had been there since 8pm, fed up with the very slow service we decided it was enough and asked for our checks told the waiter who’s food was for who because she had forgotten and that opened up a whole new can of worms. We patiently waited for our checks after 30 min went buy we were still waiting for our checks. We finally got our checks after 30 min and they were completely wrong. Every one of them was wrong. We told the waiter once more what group’s food should be on each person’s check and started to wait again. This time after 10 min of waiting a member of our table went up to her to ask if everything was okay and the waiter had no clue on what to do we had to help her figure the process out on her own computer. STAY AWAY! It was a painful process all for some okay bar food, there are some serious customer service issues...
Read moreI visited Johnny Malloy's today, and it was a complete letdown. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. The place just seemed dirty and worn out.
The service was incredibly slow, and it seemed like the staff was more interested in chatting among themselves than attending to the customers. It took ages to get our drinks, and when they finally arrived, they were poorly made and tasted watered down. My fiancé ordered a Tito's cranberry and was presented with a glass full of a clear light pink colored liquid that tasted like it was made with well vodka and the sink water with a splash of pink food coloring.
The food was a major disappointment too. My loaded fries were overcooked and dry, and were served with no ranch/dipping sauce. After requesting ranch from the server I was given one tiny cup of ranch in which I had to pay extra for.
To make matters worse, the restroom was in terrible condition. It was dirty, and there was no soap or paper towels available. My fiancé also advised me the there was no toilet paper in the women's restroom at the time. I felt disgusted just being in there.
Overall, I would not recommend Johnny Malloy's to anyone. It's a shame because the location is convenient, but the overall experience was so disappointing that I won't be returning. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes some significant improvements to turn this...
