The Restaurant is loud and lively with a large open kitchen dominating a tight seating space area. Our table of 4 had a pleasant server who was brand new, so very green in knowing how to look after basic needs like water, pepper etc, never mind the make up of dishes. In addition the kitchen was both clearly overwhelmed and thoroughly disorganized, with our food taking over 50 minutes to come out and then one of our group was missed entirely. The real cardinal issue however is the food itself. Three of us each had a different type of fresh pasta dish, and each had the same comments...bland to the point of not recognizing what it was meant to be, and all of us know quality Italian food well, having been to Italy many times for long periods. One example, the pasta with the Salsa alla Amatriciana. The red sauce was thickly and copiously laid on top, overwhelming the delicate fresh pasta and unfortunately tasted merely of underseasoned tomatoes with no pancetta in sight or flavor. To try and add some flavor we all had to ask for Parmesan as none was offered, which when it came, in itself was dry and somewhat stale, as grated very finely and clearly left to sit. The two other pasta dishes as well as the one Pizza dish received similar negative comments, with the addition that all the dishes when they finally arrived were barely lukewarm with flavorless runny sauce. Again, kitchen problems. Bottom line...if this Restaurant wants to define itself by its simple promise of excellent tasting authentic simple pasta and pizza dishes, they need go back to the culinary drawing board, as what we experienced on this busy Saturday night was a comprehensive train wreck on every level. And that was a true disappointment as we really wanted to enjoy what we were promised and were paying for steeply for what after all are simple...
Read moreThe service was absolutely atrocious, and let down what would be fine food.
Our order was clearly forgotten, waiting over an hour for it on a Tuesday. When we asked, three different servers all said they would check and then did not return to the table.
Our water glasses sat empty while the staff avoided our table, we had to ask for water while we waited.
When our waitress returned, she said she had stood in the kitchen and supervised our order. And yet, she brought the incorrect pizza. When we flagged this to another waiter, he acknowledged it was someone else’s order, picked up the pizza, walked back through kitchen door and then turned around and walked right back out serving the pizza to another table further back in the restaurant.
When we finally got our food, we were offered no apology. When the check came, we flagged the awful experience and how disappointed we were, to no avail.
What a shame. They had every opportunity to make this right, and a simple mistake would have been forgiven with a better response...
