Today I visited lamppost coffee to purchase coffee beans. I was telling the barista how I needed fresh beans to grind for my espresso machine, I had just picked up a grinder and a scale. The manager came out, bless her heart, and introduced herself. (She is well fit for the line of work she is in, fabulous person, great energy and very well spoken). She then handed me an espresso tamper, it was the one thing I was missing in my wish list but she hadn't known that. I asked her how much it was, I was confused as to why she just handed it to me and she proceeded to tell me that it's free and that she wants me to have it. I thanked her so much, and told her that she made my day. I don't think she believed that it really made my day, but had she known what I've been going through, she'd believe that she truly did make my day. I've been going through some rough times and I truly cannot express how far her kindness has gone. This morning my spirits were low, and now I'm writing this review with tears in my eyes, but tears of gratitude. To some of you reading this review, you might think I'm being dramatic, but for others, you'll understand how a kind gesture can impact you so greatly. Everyone working in this coffee place showed genuine kindness and professionalism. The coffee I ended up ordering tasted wonderful. To the manager of this establishment, the many thanks I give you could not suffice just how thankful I am. Lamppost has spoiled me on good coffee. My wife and I talk about how terrible other shops are when we're out and about and we always end up comparing them to Lamppost. It's a good warm place full of professionals who seem most concerned with making the best cup of coffee they can manage, and the best part of Lamppost is taking the beans home. If you the reader of this review haven't done that yet, take a bag of your favorite style home and throw that in your drip machine. You can get nearly the same cup at home and twice as convenient.

Tip for buying coffee beans: Lamppost tastes every roast (including limited blends and such) and they write the flavors on the bag. If you aren't sure which to buy, try reading the label on the bag and choose flavors you prefer. Chocolate notes will be a richer and somewhat more traditional cup, while fruity notes will be a wild and bright cup of coffee. I go here regularly and the coffee is really amazing. If you're expecting coffee stand or starbucks, this aint that. The coffee is never bitter, with more chocolatey notes. It's actually crazy how not bitter it is. Always smooth, never burnt. It's really really good and consistently good.

The baristas also take this seriously, they monitor temperatures, pull times, and use separate steamers for non-dairy customers.

The coffee is roasted in the store. I buy the bonney lake blend to make at home, but I also grab coffee here when I can just to support them more.
