Looking for a lunch in our first day in town lead us here as we were walking down the street. The place is down below off the street, so there is a bit of a steep staircase leading to it. Definitely not elderly or handicapped friendly. Once there, you place your order at the main counter and find a place to sit and wait with your order number. My wife ordered the lobster roll and was immediately told by the perky high schooler that it was expensive due to market prices (I checked, retail prices were around $10-11 a pound and 7-ish for wholesale, off-boat, so not really that outrageous). I just about choked when she told me the $39 price tag but I was trying to please the wife on this trip. But it also brings up this: why did she automatically go for the apology on the pricing? Was she ashamed of the tourist-trap gouging? Hmmmm. It was busy for a Tuesday, but not too bad and the seating was near a window and we enjoyed the sea breeze. They also have tables outside for a view of the harbor. Now, for full disclosure, we are from Cape Cod and although we have been land locked for 10 years, we know good seafood. The lobster roll was mediocre at best. Certainly not worth the money from a so-called lobster specialist with self -proclaiming BEST prices in town. My wife was a bit disappointed and even she said it was priced way too high for what you got. My sandwich was so-so and on the passable side but not earth shattering for the $15. The lobster roll should be half the price, at least. Sorry folks, not quite good enough for the money and I felt a bit taken. Interesting that they don't advertise in the local...
Read moreThis is a great choice of the many options in the area. If you like spicy, don't miss the spicy lobster soup!!! The short wait in line, down the stairs that come off the street, is worth it as you will quickly find yourself at a table either inside or out on their deck overlooking the bay. HOT TIP: There is ONE table down the dock ramp that is available for restaurant patrons. Most people don't realize you can actually sit there, but it is part of the restaurant. You may even witness an employee coming down to check their floating lobster bins (see pic) to decide the fate of who gets to move on to the lobster pot today. Lol. It's an awesome experience to feel the slight motion of the water as you sit at your picnic table on the bay. The food is good. My wife's sandwich was a little dry but I enjoyed my mixed basket of fried shrimp and oysters. After you order your food step to the right to grab any alcoholic beverages you want from the bar as you order them separate. Their deck is covered so you'll be protected from the sun. There is a menu posted at the top of the stairs but I have also attached pictures of the full menu here. There is two hour free street parking just outside the restaurant if you can find a spot. Read moreRight on the water in Boothbay harbor in the center of town. This is a casual place with a bar, inside and outside seating. Menu includes burger, wraps, lobster rolls, ribs, chicken, hotdogs, fried seafood, baked seafood, lobster pie, steamed lobster, chowder, salads, steaks, dogs... Something for everyone. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful autumn afternoon. I ordered the mussel appetizer steamed in white wine and garlic. There were 4 dozen mussels included. See photo. Delicous. Used all the bread to soak up the sauce. Cheap!!! This could have been shared with a full table of guests. Our server was friendly and helpful. She helped guide our choices of local craft beer and food order. We had potato skins topped with fresh lobster and fish tacos. We could barely waddle out. Highly recommended. Famy friendly. The also have...
