BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: You should definitely try this place out!

Darling bride and I were in today on our first visit. I'm sure she will cover her meal in her own review. Here is mine (smile):

We walked in AT NOON basically. Parking lot was a bit confusing (it was raining, soooo), but once we got through the door, all was right with the world. Well-appointed, neat, clean atmosphere. Seated immediately and lots of no-waiting tables & booths available.

We were pleasantly surprised and privileged to have Jennifer as our server. She is a joy, and "gets" food. She also understands her job; it is readily apparent. That is important to us. (Train her to be a trainer of staff and pay her more.... if she is amenable to the promotion.)

I chose the "Bacquezo® Omelette" with grits as my side and I "plussed 'em up" to "City Grits" on recommendation. A fantastic recommendation, by the way, that ALL should heed at least once!

The "Omelette" had me at chorizo,.... and cheese,.... and fluffy, perfectly cooked eggs! It, too, is also a must try for anyone who likes chorizo. Y'all, they rendered it just right! Goldilocks-perfect amount of the "red stuff" remaining for taste and appearance. Best omelet, outside my kitchen, that I've had in years; many years.

But before that, we got to try their "Biscuit Beignets" smothered in powdered sugar and served with a marmalade that made my chest get tight, because it reminded me so much of my Mamaw's. They are NOT "New Orleans beignets". They're better. Yeah, I know, I do. But it is the truth as I know it. (raises hand)

But even before that, I tried both of the house coffees, the medium and the dark roasts.

First, let me say that I applaud the grand decision to stock TWO beautifully different mugs to serve the two coffees. Way to take care of your waitstaff's time and span of control, AND reduce annoyances to your customer.

So, if you forced me to pick something that needs improvement... it'd be the coffee. Don't get me wrong. It is completely drinkable. And I am a "tough customer" when it comes to coffee, so take my criticisms with a "grain of salt".

The medium roast does not taste "burnt", but it also doesn't have the complex of supporting bean flavors I would expect to find from a "medium".

The dark roast has a bit too much of the "almost carbon" right up front, that I distinctly find annoying, BUT it had a superior "supporting cast" of flavors beneath.

They both miss the mark for me, but soooooo much better than the average "cafe coffee". AND they have actual Half-n-Half. Yea! Woo-hoo!!! No ultra-pasteurized, wall paint!

(Make some of that whipping cream you put in the City Grits available, and coffee aficionados the world over will love you! (smile) )

I took one star from "Food" because of the coffee. 99.99% of the potential customer population would not. I'm tough.

I did not have time to inspect front-of-store, or request a back-of-house tour to look around. I will perhaps do these things during a follow-up visit.

I reiterate my opening statement:

You should eat here. It'd take 10 trips just for me to make a "first pass" at the extensive menu.

Go! &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

NOT part of the review. This is a NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: The front patio cover/entrance design is flawed. When it is or has been raining, it POURS water on your customers BETWEEN the covered patio and walking in your MAIN Entrance. This is not good. Needs to be fixed or...

Very disappointing experience to say the least, I ordered some food for breakfast for my 8 years old daughter, and when the food arrived, it was missing all of the toppings ,and a side dish as well, and when I called the place, the manager, Johnny Walker ( real name ? ) immediately put the blame on Door-dash, trying to have me believe that the online system used by Door dash canceled the toppings and the side dish without having any control over it and that unfortunately he couldn't help me and i would have to call Door-dash to deal with this matter.

I told him that I could come directly to the store and pick up all the missing item, as again, it was my daughter's birthday and she really was expecting her food as such, and he told me that it would be ok and that his name was Johnny Walker.

When I arrived, there was no place to park so I left my car parked in a double lane and literally ran to the store in order to pick up the food, only to realize that nobody had a single clue of why I was there, I expressly told one of the girls in the front that I was here to pick up some food that was missing from my order and that I was parked really bad and that the manager was expecting me, which obviously didn't seem to phase her at all. I waited at least a good 10 minutes and nobody even tried to help me, but rather kept telling me that if i didn't need a table then I needed to step aside and go on the other side where the " pick-up " line is.

While waiting and trying to keep an eye on the car to possibly prevent to get a ticket and make sure, from afar, that the kids were ok, I could see the manager walking slowly from the bar area, then back to the kitchen, stopping to talk to people, then go back to the kitchen, and not one even time did he come in my direction, he certainly never came to introduce himself, nor apologize for the messy situation, he never brought the food, nor anyone tried remotely to help me with my request, even after telling a third girl if she could check on the status on my food, showing me instead a clear indication that was annoying her, and i then realized that I was just wasting my time, standing in this place with literally nobody whatsoever willing to help my case.

That's when I told the two girl at the front that I was very disappointed with this whole situation, and to told the manager , Johnny Walker, not to bother with the food and that it would be very unlikely that I would come back here, sadly, as this was one of my favorite place to eat with my family, and their answer was of course, as expected, a sour smile and a very fake " have a nice day then! "

I have not received any calls whatsoever from the manager or from anybody at this point, and it is very clear to me that they just didn't care, i didn't matter at the time, i mentioned my daughter's birthday but it didn't matter, i mentioned i was parked in a very bad spot with the kids in the car, but it didn't matter, and hey, I was wearing my military ID around my neck, and that didn't matter at all anyway.

Needless to say, I am done with this place, and I will make sure that everybody in my close circles know about this terrible experience, thank you so much for ruining what could have been a great breakfast for a 8 years old kid's...

We arrived at another Broken Egg Cafe in Shreveport, La about 9:35 AM. Spoke with the hostess who put us on the wait list. I received a message saying party of 6 or more will have a 2 hour seat time limit. More people stated coming in & another couple Was waiting next to us but came In a few minutes after us. They got called to be seated. We were waiting at this time about 15 minutes, I went to the hostess desk and asked what happened because we were here 1st. She asked for my name and then asked if I received a message. I said the only message I received was the one provide info for party of 6 or more. And showed it to her, she goes on to say your name was removed off the list & not sure what happened. She goes on to say I just added you back and you’re next to be seated. We waited about her 5-7 minutes before being called to be seated. Besides this issue everything else was great. The service, the food and the manger, general manger (not aware of what took place) checked in on us to make sure we were ok. I commend the general manger ( I was not aware who she was at the time until we were leaving) she was helping out very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was wonderful and pleasant. My husband did let the manger know about the glitch in the system before leaving. (If you don’t know you can’t fix it).

We came in from Fort Worth for a night at the casinos and specifically chose this amazing restaurant because of our last experience a year ago here. Everyone in our party talked about our plans for Sunday morning brunch here. We chose a different location this trip that was a little closer to our casino. Even though we put our names on the waitlist there want any wait when we arrive at 10 am on a Sunday morning. The front staff were very nice and seated us right away. Then we met our server Chelsey! What a ray of sunshine ☀️! She was the nicest server I’ve had in a long time. Lots of helpful tips and always spot on with service. Any restaurant could be a huge success with a handful of servers like Chelsey. We ordered a full order of the beignets and they came out hot and delicious. That marmalade like honey was the icing on the cake too! They were almost as good as the best beignets on Bourbon Street. I had the same thing again and loved my Mardi Gras omelette. Packed full of yummy seafood and the eggs were so good and fresh. That smoked Gouda grits was awesome! The rest of the table loved their breakfast. They raved about the eggs Benedict and the biscuits. We will definitely come back here on our next casino trip!
