Blaze Fenway is definitely the closest location to me so far, and luckily I have yet to pay full price for one of their delicious thin crust, unlimited topping pizzas from all the promos! (Totally worth the $8.25 + taxes anyway!) Please, pretty please open one up in Chestnut Hill NEXT?!
On weekends I often find myself craving the strangest combo of toppings and Blaze definitely satisfies with their huge menu of sauces, meats and all important veggies. You can even make half one pizza and the other with totally different ingredients. Although you should probably also be mindful of how many other starving patrons are waiting behind you. The menu itself can be overwhelming at first, but their signature pizzas are a great place to start and of course you can add on your own customization. Embarrassingly enough I've also been told "You might not want to add that many toppings because the pizza may not cook evenly!" The end product although very savory and filling, I have to admit was a little over the top since it turned out to be a bit too salty with the smorgasbord of meats. As this place is in the city there's no designated parking aside from testing out your luck with street parking. It's almost exactly in between the Fenway and Kenmore stops and right across from Tasty Burger.
I've tasted their refreshing beverages blood orange lemonade and the fresca and they are a great combo with a Build Your Own (BYO) pizza! Also those s'more cookies when they come right out of the oven are heavenly. Salads are also a nice way to balance out the pizza if you don't want to feel like a complete blob scarfing down a 800+ calorie pizza. They also have the perfectly sized half pizza boxes to spare yourself from overeating your mountainy unlimited topping pizza.
The only main drawbacks I have to mention are the the weird glitches with their app, questionable restroom cleanliness and consistency of the pizza makers. I went here one time with a buy one get one free offer and they charged me full price for someone else's online order when I tried to pay with my card linked to the app. Then the manager was saying it was not going through so it was my lucky day that I got 2 free pizzas when in reality I paid for both of them and needed to ask for a refund when I checked my pending credit card activity. (Also my flames seem to have disappeared from the rewards!?) The other issue is with the bathroom that seems to be outside in a shared area with the Fenway Community? Ugh maybe it's the customers but... it should be cleaned more frequently I decided to bypass using it altogether after seeing disgusting state. When I visited just today my friend and I ordered separate pizzas but she was actually given my pizza since the numbering was off compared the one with the actual pizza and I received hers. Good thing we weren't really that picky of eaters, but I'm sure someone else would have been sorely disappointed receiving one of my...
Read moreWe stopped in here one night after a concert at Fenway had ended, and I understand the place got crazy but it was an absolute disaster. I heard about three people in front of us be told "sorry we're out of XYZ", the staff was kind and professional about it but they were out of a ton of stuff. We completely threw the staff for a loop when we ordered a pizza with half being only cheese. We chose our crust, sauce and cheese and by the time our pizza got to the toppings lady - she just picked her own! What?! So strange, she didn't even ask. She put on what appeared to be chicken and sausage over the whole pizza. They were busy, and hectic so we just decided to roll with that pizza because we are easygoing and understanding people. However for over 40 minutes we waited and waited for our "mystery pizza" to come out. The system was an absolute disaster. The point of my review isn't to bash this place, but I want to give a huge shout out to the blonde woman working expo/pick up pizzas who was doing the absolute most, with a big smile with what was a mess of a situation. If she isn't the owner, she deserves a raise because she was busting her @$$ to keep things flowing. Random pizzas were coming out and not matching orders, other guests were going up to her complaining, talking to her, asking if/when their pizzas would be done. Had I been in her shoes, I would've walked out 10 minutes into that nonsense but she kept her calm, smiley and professionalism throughout. This place needs better systems in place, expo can only do so much when the kitchen is pumping out incorrect pizzas and leaving her to deal with the mess. After 40 minutes we just settled on whatever pizza they had given us (which wasn't even the mystery pizza we saw the lady put toppings on) which was'nt the best but my husband ate it. I was suprised by so many good reviews, because so much went wrong. But the blonde chick working Thursday 7/18 night is an absolute rock star and she's the reason I wanted to write this review and give her...
Read moreI've had a great experiences at the Blaze downtown, but the Fenway location has just never been as good. The set up is worse and the staff doesnt seem as well trained. I'd gone a couple times and it was just okay, but today I went and had a really awful experience.
I went in around 3pm and there was one person ahead of me in line. The person behind the counter took his order and wrote it on the little paper. He then took my order and the order of the person behind me, telling each of us "someone will be with you as soon as possible." After writing down our orders, he looked around aimlessly for a minute and took a few steps away, before deciding to start the first customer's pizza extremely slowly.
Meanwhile, the store manager stood behind him, not facing us, loudly singing Ariana Grande.
As the first customer was being helped, the store manager came over and started making 2 pizzas in a pick-up order. He did not acknowledge me or the other person standing in line waiting to have our orders made. He avoided all eye contact with us and continued singing what had now become a loud duet with the guy at the pizza oven. He took his time throwing toppings on the pizzas and did it like he thought he was in some kind of cooking show music video. A sense of urgency would've been appreciated and I considered walking out.
The first employee came back over and tried to figure out how to make dough for our pizzas, as there wasn't any set up. After he made dough for me, the manager came over to set up my pizza.
I asked for alfredo sauce and he corrected me that it's just "white cream sauce." Next I asked for red sauce dollops and he corrected me to tell me I just meant red sauce too, and not the red sauce dollops they apparently only add at the end. It was particularly off-putting especially after the rest of the experience.
I can't imagine why on earth you'd treat customers this way. Every part of my time there told me you didn't want my (or any) business. Giving 2 stars because at least the...
