I went there and got one of their pastries and a chicken pita. Considering it was my first time there, I was kinda disoriented and didn't know what I was doing, so it felt a bit chaotic for me. Personally I think it's odd pastries get ordered separately from the other food so I had to wait for the chicken pita. The register part was ok, but they have a tip option in the checkout process and it felt awkward so I felt obligated to tip but I went in there not expecting to be asked to do that. They give a no tip option but that felt mean.
Anyway the chicken pita was then brought to my table after a few minutes. It did taste very good, the pita was so soft! But it was messy for me because pieces were so big! I think it would have been better for me if the chunks were actually bite size. I actually dropped some food and sauce on my jacket lol. So if you have to stay professional looking after your meal, don't get the chicken pita lol. After the meal, I didn't know what to do with my dishes or trash. I had to ask someone and put my stuff into the dish tray bucket thingy myself. That felt weird that I was pushed to tip, yet I bus my own table?
Would I come back? Maybe. The food did taste good. I hope they make changes though. And at the same time, now that I know what the routine is there should make future visits easier for me, if I go there anymore. Also important to note that I got it 'for here' so maybe that is the more difficult option, and I should have...
Read moreThis place looks beautiful, and all the pastries delicious.
I got the $4 Chocolate Hazelnut Twist. It looks a picture but I have to take a star off, because doesn't really taste it- the hazelnut is there, but not the chocolate. It tastes more like the end of a batch of cinnamon rolls that got skimped on the filling. Mostly dense pastry to the point it's unpleasant.
I'll still be back to try more. From what I've heard of their other locations, this seems like just a fluke, and not what to expect from their quality.
Came back to try more! I tried out their online ordering this time. I ordered two Ham and Cheese Croissants. When I got there around 20 minutes after I ordered (website said it'd be ready in ~15), I didn't find my order on the pick-up shelf. I waited another 5 minutes or so, and watched the staff serve people walk-in pastries, but didn't seem to be aware of my order.
I walked over to the counter to find what I had ordered, and one of the staff helped me. They only had one of the ham and cheese left- he said they must've just ran out when I placed the order. That was disappointing, but he offered to replace it with anything of equal value.
The ham and cheese was delicious, so I can see why it sold out, but at $4.50 each they should have a better system to be sure you are getting what...
Read moreWe have visited Tatte on Boylston at 3:18 on August 10th, and upon ordering we have received everything except my mom’s tea. We were told to wait for a few minutes and it will be ready but ended up waiting for over 20 minutes and asked members of staff several times about it and were told to wait some more or ignored. In the meantime we saw many other customers get their beverages (both hot and cold) and leave as we waited even after we finished eating. On the last time of asking, the cashier turned around and made it within seconds, which amazed me because she could’ve done that long ago. She gave it to my mom in a scalding temperature that she couldn’t drink and when we conveyed our disappointment with the service she didn’t apologize and just smirked and said “okay”. I believe the reason my mom was treated so poorly is because she’s a Muslim woman wearing a hijab and this is a blatant act of discrimination. Even though we were excited to try Tatte we will not visit again and will take our business to a place that will dignify customers and treat them...
