After wanting to try Cafe Weekend for so long, I finally decided to order through Uber Eats for pickup, hoping for a quick brunch grab. This turned out to be one of my most disappointing experiences in the U.S. so far.
For those looking to enjoy a peaceful brunch, especially when ordering through Uber Eats, I recommend steering clear of this cafe to avoid a similar unpleasant experience.
In a short word: My visit to Cafe Weekend was marred by the owner's rudeness; despite arriving on time as indicated by Uber Eats, I was met with dismissal and a shocking suggestion to "just cancel the order" when questioning the delay. This encounter, especially being publicly chastised in the cafe, left a lasting negative impression, overshadowing any positives from the food itself.
The Uber Eats app indicated my order would be ready by 12:51. Arriving right on time, I was told by the staff that they were too busy and I would need to wait another 10-15 minutes. Confused, I explained that I was there because their status on Uber Eats showed "Ready to Pick Up," implying they had confirmed the order was ready. When I suggested that the cafe could use the app to notify of any delays (a common practice), the owner dismissively claimed they had no control over the "Ready to Pick Up" status and rudely suggested, “Then you can just cancel the order!”
Such a response was shocking. It seemed my attempt to conveniently order ahead and pick up on time was met with deceit, leading to unnecessary waiting. The owner’s indifferent and disrespectful demeanor, especially when he loudly chastised me in front of other customers, was appalling. My husband, who generally avoids confrontation, couldn't believe the rudeness of the treatment we received.
Upon my husband's return to pick up the order 15 minutes later, the owner attempted to apologize by offering two free coffees (which I don't know was for his rudeness or simply the order delay). However, this gesture did not compensate for the earlier mistreatment or the loud scolding in the store.
Objectively, the brunch met my expectations. However, service is equally important, and a simple apology for the delay and better communication initially could have resolved the situation amicably.
Reviewing other feedback, it seems that this cafe's service issues are not new, dating back to 2022, and yet remain unaddressed in 2024. It appears the owner believes the cafe's social media popularity and high Google Maps rating make individual customer experiences irrelevant.
Regardless of the quality of the food, such service is a definitive...

Was influenced by social media and friends to check this cafe out and was thoroughly disappointed. We wanted a chill café with good coffee, and I was intrigued by the fact that they had einspanners. We ordered a couple of einspanners and a couple of croffles to start with the possibility of ordering more food if we were hungry. The einspanners came out relatively quickly but could immediately tell the Americano was too watery. The first sips confirmed that. Maybe I'm spoiled by einspanners in NYC? After 15-20 min of finishing our drinks and chatting, we were wondering why our croffles, which seemed pretty straightforward, had not arrived. It took a while because they're very busy and typically have a line it seems but we flagged a server and asked about our food. They went to check and the way they came and said "just one minute" led me to believe they'd forgetten to put the order in. The blueberry cream cheese croffle and bacon cheddar croffle we ordered came out quickly after that. The bacon cheddar was well studded with cheese and bacon, but the other was not covered in a thick blueberry puree as we we told but a thin blueberry syrup with no actual blueberry pieces. The other breakfast food other tables were getting looked tasty but at this point we were fed up. We again had to wait 15-20 min to get someone's attention to get the check (see attached picture and "Same Time" under the food orders), which confirmed they'd forgetten to put our order in. The sad part is, until this we'd been chatting about how lovely and personable the staff was! But they did not explain what happened nor did they apologize, which was very disappointing. We won't be back for coffee but maybe we'll do takeout, if that's an option. Also, having to access the bathroom through the kitchen, down the steps and then through storeroom seems like an accident waiting to happen and...
Read moreReally awesome spot. Me and a group of friends went for brunch, and the staff were super friendly, and the food was extremely good. Would definitely go again.
I got the Boston-Cheese-Steak and a Pink Lemonade, both of which were awesome. Someone else in my party got French toast and said it was incredibly good as well, and the prices are also relatively good for what you get. ($14.50 for the steak and cheese, and $5 for the pink lemonade).
The steak and cheese was really tasty and in terms of portions, I think the average person would feel full after eating only half of the sandwich (both me and someone else in my group only ate half). One note is it comes on a Ciabatta roll, where traditionally you may expect a sub roll.
The Pink Lemonade was interesting as it definitely had some of that sweetness you expect from pink lemonade, but still had a decent bit of sour like yellow lemonade. Really loved it, and I'm curious how they make it, as its one of the better lemonades I've ever had from a restaurant.
One unusual thing was they did ask us to move seats at one point which has never happened before in a restaurant I've gone to, but it was before we got our food and wasn't a big hassle. A guy (who I presume was the owner or manager) came over and was really apologetic about the situation and thankful for us moving. He said that a big group was looking for a table, and so we went to another seat. It also did take a decent while for our food to come out, and it came out staggered rather than all at once, but it really wasn't a huge issue. The same guy who initially apologized to us came out after we had finished our meals and gave us some sort of waffle (not sure exactly what it was coated in, but it was caramelly) as an thank you for moving, and that was fantastic as well.
Looking forward to...
