I do like Cafe Nero, but have to say, that a lot of people go in there with their computers, probably mostly students, and take up seats for hours! I don't think it's right for anyone else looking to sit down. I have walked out myself, and I've seen others walk out because of this problem. Students have places other than Cafe Nero to do homework in!! The other day, when I went into Cafe Nero, there was a man sitting there on a computer with no cup, no food, just using up space and charging his phone at the same time. I don't think this is fair to any of Cafe Nero other customers. This happens at both Cafe Nero that I go to. Boston's Washington Street one is just as bad. Customer service there is good, but they have the same problem with students. The Cafe Nero in Downtown Crossing is another story. There, I find the most ignorant workers. It's almost like someone just left them in charge, and whoever the manager is does not give a care about this place! And it shows! The workers are always on their phones, almost like they don't want to be waiting on anyone. They can have a line a mile long and still be looking at their phones hardly interested in waiting on anybody. That place needs a total overhaul of help, seriously! There's this one guy who has long hair hanging in front of his face. What happened to standards for restaurant servers? He's also always on his phone. That place is disgusting to me. I only go there because there's nothing else around, but if something else opened up as competition, trust me, I'd be there. Manager, whoever you are, please take a better look at this place and realize what's going on. Sometimes, the trash is filled to the top, and the bathrooms are filthy, which says a lot about a restaurant. And I am speaking of the downtown crossing Cafe Nero. The manager/owner needs to step up and maybe show up to see for...
Read moreThe stuff here was super rude. The cashier and line were confused. When I walked in I saw just one girl in front of the sandwich counter and another lady waiting in the cashier, I thought the girl was waiting for her coffee or food that she already ordered. So I waited in line after the lady at the cashier. I was there waiting for more than 5 mins and the male stuff saw me after the lady the whole entire time and said nothing. But after the lady payed, the male stuff asked me very rude and loud did I cut the whole entire line, and before I even got a second to say anything he speak to the other girl stuff also very loud ask her did I cut the whole line. And I told him I was there the whole time waiting for the lady in front of me. And he point the other girl at the counter ask me if I’m in front of her, and I told him I thought she already payed just waiting for her order to be ready. And he just send me to the end of other people who were definitely after me. I’m ok to be wait again in the “right” line, but with a right attitude. He could told me nicely the line was over there. But seems like he just wants to embarrassed me. Also the way they taking order made the most simplistic thing way more complicate. They let you lined up in the sandwich counter waiting for them to making everything ready and then you still need to wait for cashier to taking care of your payment. Which there’s no one always in cashier because all stuff are busy of making coffee ready. They should like all other cafe, have one in casher, taking order making payment, and other stuff get things ready so there will be only one line in cashier and people don’t have to repeat what they ordered in the counter then to the cashier. And don’t have to stay in front the whole time, make the place chaotic...
Read moreVery trendy and neat looking, but over-hyped. Seems like you pay more for the ambiance than for the drinks.
Their chai tea latte was not very good. Tasted very musky, and didn't have much flavor. The sort of flavor where I crinkled my nose at the taste, but was good enough to finish it anyways. Other drinks are decent, like the Hot Apple Cider, so perhaps it's hit-and-miss.
The way they take orders can be a bit frustrating. There's simply a long line of people running down the service counter, and they'll just try to find the next person who needs to be served. I see my annoyance echoed in other reviews, where they are essentially forgotten by the employees unless they raise their voice to make themselves known.
It would be much less chaotic if they simply had a line to a cashier, who took customers orders, then have the customers wait in a different area.
The sitting area is very nice; lots of chairs and a big community table. Decorations like books and low hanging lights make it a nice, cozy environment. The problem: they are always so incredibly packed, that you can almost never take advantage of this atmosphere.
Overall it's a nice cafe, but with average drinks and an over-crowding issue, I usually...
