I lived in Boston for a few months a couple years ago and was obsessed with Flour. Now, every time I visit Boston, this is one of my first stops! This time I tried the breakfast sandwich, which was amazing! The Dijonaise sauce had a nice tang, the bacon was thick cut and crispy, but the best part of it was the egg. Instead of the usual rubbery egg patty that gets put on breakfast sandwiches, the egg in this sandwich was so light and fluffy and almost had a creamy texture. I believe they whip in cream or something similar to make more of an egg soufflé rather than just pouring a plain beaten egg into a mold.
And the main reason I stop by flour every time is the Parmesan chive scones!!! They are my favorite pastry of all time! The chives and cheese add a great savory flavor and the texture of these scones are unbeatable! The buttery rich texture reminds me more of a biscuit than a scone, and I always have to get extra to take back home with me. (The packaging is also super cute).
I stopped by the following day for lunch as well (did I mention I’m obsessed?) and got the heirloom tomato and farro salad and added roasted turkey. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture but this was also a solid choice! The corn and candied nuts added a lot of sweetness and went well with the cheese and the peppery arugula. You could also definitely taste the basil and mint, which were nice additions. All of the veggies were super fresh tasting, and this is a great option if you’re looking for something on the...
Read moreI'll preface this by saying that I LOVE the food at Flour, especially the sandwiches. However, I was disappointed on my first visit to this location last weekend.
I have a lactose allergy so I take precautions when ordering and thought the steel cut oats was a safe choice, as it only said to include seasonal fruit and nuts. Everywhere I've been this item is typically made with water, so I didn't think twice. I was surprised to open the container and see a purple sauce, but after a couple of bites, I also realized it tasted like milk. After confirming with the salesperson who couldn't have cared less that I had a dairy allergy, I had to throw out the entire product. I spent most of the day nauseous with a painful migraine, so it was really frustrating.
I think it's dangerous not to list ingredients on your menu board, especially with the varied degree of allergy reactions. I would highly encourage you to offer two options for the oats, or be clear that it...
Read moreOrdered a cake to go from another state in advance of my graduation day. I ordered online and called to confirm my order. On the day I arrived to pick it up, traffic was terrible and we were running late. I called and was told not to worry, if I got there late I could knock and they would let me in. I got there minutes before closing and the cake, having been prepaid was handed off immediately which was important because I was now running late for my graduation dinner. I ordered the 6 inch devils food cake with chocolate buttercream inside and chocolate Ganache outside and it was fabulous! It was the perfect size, so very delicious and moist and rich but not overly sweet. The staff were very helpful and I highly recommend this bakery! I do recommend calling to confirm your order if, like me, you want alot written on the cake and sense it may not all fit. During my call, we edited it together so it would look...
