Early at 1230pm Sunday, place was quiet which typically crowded later the same day! I see this nori tacos, unusually crispy seaweed? I had to try!! Ordered $20 for 2, spicy tuna and mushroom tacos. Interesting, yummy with spicy tuna(not spicy but a little to taste) and the mushrooms with sweet heavy taste of teriyaki are scumptious. Great for light meal. I have to say, based on many other reviews given, this go go ya is not a typical type of takeout fast food. I can get mexican tacos cheaper and I had paid high price for same mexican tacos. But a japanese nori tacos? Its an experience to see new ideas to be recreate from maki version of sushi, but better with added bits of flavorings. And you dont need chopsticks!! The comparable size of each Japanese tacos are larger than the mexican tacos large or small. I think the restaurant had chosen a good location to be part of an extraordinare European style food hall. Given Timeout Magazine great credentials to bring chef-inspired into food...
Read moreI'm gonna echo everyone else here -- these tacos are expensive but they are perfection. The current price is 2 for $20 (as of 1/16/2022) and the tacos are not particularly large, but this is hands down the best "fusion sushi" item that I've ever had, and I'd rather eat here than at most sushi restaurants.
The crispy nori shell is perfectly thin and crunchy, the rice is chewy and lightly seasoned, and the fish is plentiful and flavorful. We got the torched hamachi and the tuna. The hamachi was a superstar -- the smokiness from the torching was divine. I imagine that the torched salmon is also delicious. The tuna was also perfectly seasoned and tender. The balance of textures and flavors was masterful.
I will be thinking about these tacos for a long time. I was hesitant to go to Time Out Market because I expected overpriced mediocre food. The food is indeed pricey but if you know which booths to order at it can be...
Read moreTo start, the only positive thing about Gogo Ya was how crunchy the nori shell was. We ordered the Spicy Torched Hamachi and the Torched Salmon Teryaki tacos, and the filling was nothing special. The rice, tuna, and salmon all tasted like they lacked the most basic of seasonings. The service was the worst part; my girlfriend was ordering, and they barely acknowledged her while they took the order because they were having conversation that was clearly more important than attending to customers. While they were taking 20-25 mins to prepare 2 tacos, I witnessed them laughing and conversing while not paying attention with 2 live torches in hand. When I finally went to get the food, they didn't acknowledge me or even hand me the food, I had to grab the tray, and they still said nothing as I walked away. Overall, it wasn't a good experience, and I wouldn't recommend it....definitely not worth $20...
