While the menu looked appealing, I was hesitant to order from this restaurant after seeing all of the reviews. However, when searching specifically for reviews about the noodle soup, they seemed slightly more positive than the reviews about the fried chicken, so I went for it.
I would give this dish 5 stars if it weren't for the price and the saltiness. I love salt and savory foods but this broth was too salty even for me. I think if they just added less salt it would be perfect. As for the price, it was $17 (18 with tax), and given that the noodles are made in-house and the portion size is not large it seems a bit steep compared to other ramen shops in the area.
Given these caveats, I think the individual components of this dish are well thought-out to make a pretty delightful bowl of noodles. The 48 hour bone broth is very rich and deep without being overly heavy. The chicken dumplings are super delicious -- the dumpling skin is thin and it's packed with flavorful meat. It reminds me of the chicken wontons from Tsurumen that I loved. There were only 3 dumplings but they were all high quality. The ground chicken adds a nice touch of texture and flavor. The noodles are pretty standard ramen noodles but cooked well.
I would definitely try this dish again and try asking them to make the broth less salty. It hits everything else I look for in a bowl of noodles and pairs really well with the Gogo Ya sushi tacos too. ...
Read more8PM is usually the latest you'll find me eating but after a super long day of work and errands, I decided chicken and waffle fries (not to be confused with chicken and waffles) was right for me. Because I had to change a puncture on my tire, my hands were covered in road grit and grease, I couldn't order any of the handhelds, making it all the more reasonable. The taste is what I would expect. I can't remember what sauce I got. I just wish I could have gotten more of it. The food is definitely designed to make you need a beverage -- I forgot to bring a water bottle -- but over $6 for a 16oz. soda is criminally insane. That yuzu soda did hit as a top tier beverage, which made the ballpark prices more forgivable. Wish I had...
Read moreDecent spot inside the time-out market. We managed to find a spot to sit really close, so that was nice. I split the signature spicy chicken and dumplings noodle soup and the chicken, broccoli, and cheddar gyoza.
The soup was pretty good. Flavorful, good size, plenty of noodles and dumplings. The gyoza sounded very intriguing but were a bit of a miss. The gyoza themselves were fantastic, but I expected the cheese on top to be better. It was way too dry, and there was too much of it. I tried to pour the chili sauce on it, but it didn't help enough. I ended up just peeling off the gyoza and eating them with the chili sauce.
Overall, pretty good. Although I did expect a little more from a James Beard chef. It's still...
