I’m very upset about an incident that happened at Honey Grow in Boston this evening. My daughter has SEVERE food allergies and Honey Grow came highly recommended, so we decided to try it out. She ordered a stir fry bowl and was able to select her own ingredients. Many of the items listed on the menu are notes as GF or V however my daughter has other allergies to nuts, dairy and sesame. When her food was brought to the table, I decided to double check with the employee to ensure their Sweet Soy sauce didn’t contain sesame. I kindly asked him if he could check for me and he assured me it DID NOT contain sesame. He had a thick accent and I wanted to be sure he understood my question so I repeated, “Are you SURE the soy sauce does not contain sesame?” He repeated, yes I am sure! I told my daughter it was fine for her to eat but I had a “gut feeling” something wasn’t right. I decided to triple check the ingredients on line myself and sure enough….THE SAUCE CONTAINED SESAME!!! I quickly told my daughter to stop eating and luckily she had taken only one bite! I went back to the employee and told him the information he provided was INACCURATE and could have resulted in disaster for my daughter. He apologized and then pulled his phone out to look up the information. It was then he told us the only sauce that didn’t contain sesame was their red curry sauce. Within minutes, my daughter could feel her throat itching and tightening but luckily she did not have a full blown anaphylactic reaction. People working in restaurants need to understand the allergy information they provide to customers could be a matter of life and death so DO NOT give out information unless you are 100% certain. It only takes a minute to confirm ingredients if there is a question and it only takes a minute for someone to have a life threatening reaction!! I hope some additional training is provided to this staff so someone else doesn’t have this experience. Needless to say, we paid for dinner but my daughter never ate. She was given another stir fry bowl with no sauce, but by that time, she was too afraid to eat...
Read moreGreat place to get tasty and quick noodles!
You walk in, and the ambiance is clean, colorful but not over the top. A nice casual place to seat in and have lunch. You walk over to the kiosk and select what you want. If you're making your own stir fry bowl, you get to pick a protein (price varies per protein), a base, a sauce, three veggies, and two garnishes within the price of the bowl. You pay at the kiosk, get your order number and wait for them to call it out - usually 5-10 min. I think if you do takeout, it shows up on the cool billboard. The food is tasty and the sauces are delicious. My bowl usually is a veggie one with an egg (extra), we white noodles, mushrooms, bell peppers, edamame, roasted cashews and pickled cucumbers with the sesame garlic sauce. They also do seasonal bowls, which is a nice change if you want to try something new. Someone also stopped by during our lunch to see if everything was alright, and that's just great customer service unexpected at a fast, casual restaurant.
Cons: Since you select everything at the kiosk, you can't adjust the quantity. Say you want onions but just a little. Or you like mushrooms, so you would want more of it. They're a little skimpy with the garnishes. I want more pickled cucumbers! No steel forks even if you dine in. I did enter my phone number but I'm not sure if I got any rewards for my order? There's street parking but it can be tough on the weekends. My biggest peeve was that the stir fry was cold for my liking, even though I ate in.
Overall, the flavors are good, and that...

What to get: the SPICY GARLIC (chicken) NOODLES.
You know how sometimes you’re watching a movie, and suddenly someone is eating Chinese food with chopsticks right out of the box, and you realize it’s been sooooooo long since you’ve done that and now all you can think about are juicy, spicy noodles? Yeah, that was me this evening and Honeygrow really delivered with its packaging. Taste wise…
I ordered (Doordashed) two meals from Honeygrow. The spicy garlic noodles are an absolute standout: The sauce follows through on its promise of being spicy and garlicky, in JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT. There is a perfect balance of vegetables in the dish, and there is absolutely nothing greasy about it.
I also ordered the Sesame Garlic (steak) noodles. I added fried shallots and chili flakes. The sauce on this one just doesn’t compare to the spicy garlic dish, but it is still quite good. They also use proper slices of steak.
FOR MY FELLOW NOODLE LOVERS: Both dishes achieve the right ratio of noodles to everything else (ie, still mostly noodles), and these are really the stars of the show. The noodles are perfectly cooked, obviously fresh (maybe even house-made?) and just beautifully sauced without being OVER-sauced. It is quite obvious that they have NOT forgotten that a noodle dish cannot be good without EXCELLENT noodles.
If you’ve got a “noodle” craving and you’re not in the mood for Italian food, this is absolutely a...
