The cuisine at layla’s straddles the line between fantastic comfort food and unique cuisine. The menu has already added new seasonal menu changes since opening their doors providing customers short term variety. Layla’s also boasts a tremendous staff whose attentiveness is unmatched in southie. Bartenders ensure their bar is seated for dinner as soon as possible and all other individuals have a drink in their hand. The dining area is always clean and table turnover is quickly executed courtesy of their lovely waitstaff and hostesses. If you’re fortunate enough to encounter Molly often times behind the bar most busy nights or managing the floor during the occasional afternoon shift prepare to be wow’d by her superpowers. During one of the opening nights where the place was standing room only she managed to identify a customer’s appetizer order was delivered to the wrong seat at the bar while managing a service bar post that did not offer a single moment of reprieve. Before that customer could make mention of the delay she made her way to the kitchen to ensure the order was remade with management awareness. I recommend the laylas experience to all that venture...
Read moreIn town for a wedding, a group of us wanted to have dinner together the night we arrived in Boston. I called ahead to make a reservation for 10 of us. Some of the people are older, so I called again and asked what we could do since their tables for groups of 10 are high tops with stools. Tim (answered the phone) graciously suggested the restaurant switch out the chairs for us to tall chairs with backs. I called again to put the request in once checking with my group. Again, the restaurant couldn’t be kinder or more accommodating! These chairs were perfect for us! The atmosphere of this restaurant was exactly what we were looking for! It’s a casual, busy place. The table we were at was nice for a group. The service and food were great! The bride showed up with a small group and requested to sit next to us and again the restaurant accommodated us. The atmosphere of the restaurant made it comfortable to get up and visit with everyone between both tables. Being from out of town, this was a fabulous start to the wedding weekend! I...
Read moreI had dinner at Layla's this weekend and I was very excited to try the newest member of the Lucys, Bowery Bar, etc family of restaurants. It is safe to say it was a bit of a let down. I had the big little chicken sandwich and it was good, but the breading fry was not up to par with the chicken Sandwiches at the bowery or lucys. I also had the chicken nachos which were good, on the smaller side in comparison to the other locations as well. My wife had the cobb salad which she is normally a huge fan of at lucy and bowery, but missed the mark here.
Yes I understand that this is not either of those restaurants but it it extremely hard to not compare the food as the menu, cuisine style, overall vibe are practically identical.
Staff was great and so were the drinks.
I do have faith that my complaints will in time go away as this is a new place and getting the food ironed out takes time. If I also did not already have the Bowery and Lucys to compare it to my rating would've been higher. I will update my review next time I...
