A group of 5 of us made a reservation at Loretta's for brunch weeks in advance for yesterday (sunday) morning. We were so excited to come here! It was our friend's 30th birthday weekend celebration and she loves this place. Unfortunately, our experience has soured even her feelings about the place.
So here's what happened - we get there right when it opens @ 10:30/which is when our reservation is. We order drinks and food. Decent bloody mary drinks but definitely not loaded up like some of the pics I've seen. We're the first people there, and then some folks trickle in to a few tables, but not many. There was live music and that was awesome.
An hour goes by, we finally get our food and it's cold. So, we go to find/tell the waitstaff - a few things to add: no one really checked on us, we only had been able to order 1 drink, and when we asked a girl walking by for help, she told us really not very nicely "I'm not your waiter." I guess she was the bartender. Which was a bit of a shock - most, if not all of us, in our group have worked in the food service industry. Usually, the bartender will say something a bit more kind - like I'm not your waiter, but let me get them for you.
When we finally get a hold of our waiter, they look at us a bit condescendingly and say, "it just came out." We ask if they can reheat it but they don't have a microwave, they can only re-make it so we say sure - yes, please re-make the food. One person in our group was so grossed out by her cold brisket hash that she just sent it back completely and didn't order anything else. Similar to the bloody mary drinks, none of the food (chicken & waffles, french toast, etc.) looked like the beautiful pics I've seen. My friend, who's been here before, also was a bit shocked by how different the food was.
Again, we all understand how crazy restaurants can be and how crazy people can be too. Our group was smiling and nice since we walked in the door, we were understanding about the food & and there were countless opportunities to make our experience better. While we're waiting for our food to be re-made, we order more bloody mary drinks and they're on the house - thank you wait staff! When we finally get those however, they all have whiskey in them when only 1 person ordered whiskey, the others asked for vodka. So we tell the waitstaff and the bartender, and again receive more condescending behavior that we don't know what we're talking about. The bartender eventually re-makes them and the bloody mary tastes much better with the vodka we asked for.
The food gets re-made and it looks 100000x better. Is it amazing, like the pictures? No, but it's warm and at least tastes okay. After we eat and drink, we wait a long time for our check to come but it finally does, we pay, thank the waitstaff and get out of there. Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there - with at least half of us, the food doesn't sit right and we end up being sick to our stomachs the rest of the day/night into today.
TLDR: avoid the food, drinks are okay; double check your credit card statement, they will also try to charge you 2x!
this place has the potential to do better & be better than this..I hope one day we can come back and have a different, better experience than the one...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with the service. We received a friendly & accommodating greeting upon arrival from possibly the manager. The live music was awesome! BUT beyond that - the rest was probably the worst I've ever had. We arrived for the Thursday night drink & appetizer specials. When asking the waitress, she had to go ask 2 separate times. She came back to the table stating only 1 drink was on special (all specialty drinks were supposed to be 1/2 off). When told about the specials from online she gave a nasty attitude & dismissed it.
The "special" margaritas were watered down and unconvincingly spiked. The wings only come in 7 count, they charge you for 8, & only come in 1 flavor that was WAY too spicy for someone who loves & has a high tolerance for hot/spicy foods (no dressing or vegetable). We had to actually send them back. The rest of the apps weren't all that great either - steak biscuits (gristley, 3pc, TINY, overpriced), sausage & cheese balls (not appetizing).
The waitress misinformed us that the wings were sweet & really not spicy at all (when in fact they were spicy enough to make someone sick), ended up forgetting part of our order, never refilled waters despite request, never brought napkins & had to be asked 3 times for condiments. She also messed up the drink order and brought us 2 checks: 1 for drinks & 1 for food.
Having worked in the industry, we tend to commiserate with servers but we have never experienced such terrible service. Business was very slow & there were several servers so there is no reason for how horrendous everything went. We were so disappointed we left despite wanting so badly to enjoy a fun night out at a place we had been so excited for.
My true suggestion - go for a drink & the live music but avoid dining there and DONT trust the website information/specials. I wouldn't give a restaurant with false advertising or such terrible service...
Read moreHusband and I came here tonight, not realizing a game was going on, we’re not into sports, and realized early on it was a mistake when we couldn’t find any parking;and the traffic (this is Boston remember, right next to Fenway.) Once I found a parking garage that had spots, I saw the $60 flat rate sign. That was the start of my night.
Our night got totally turned around, however, when we finally arrived at Loretta’s. Our waitress was wonderful as well as the managers Joanna (GM) and Michael. We had a spot outside and overall the atmosphere was wonderful. Waitress very accommodating and attentive, despite being very busy with people coming from the game. I like going to food establishments where the manager(s) come by and check in and make sure everyone is happy. It’s not as common nowadays, but it shows that the business puts value and priority into their customer service. Drinks were on point, we both got a traditional margarita, and my other half tried a mango one. Both were superior to surrounding businesses in the same category. The Food was delectable and delicious. We got the BBQ Wings extra crispy, tots, and each of us had a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. They used a house dressing and it really was so savory and light, and I loved it. Chicken was plentiful and grilled very nicely; I enjoyed the very good quality of the chicken wings and the grilled chicken. I find lately restaurants are serving chicken that seems of questionable quality, however Loretta’s did not disappoint. Did not have room for dessert, however we brought some donuts home and just devoured them.
Thank you...
