My family of 4 dined here because we wanted lobster rolls in Boston. The lobster rolls were decent, but not worth the price and maybe not the atmosphere either! I have had lobster rolls in Jersey City at a similar price point, but theirs is huge and fresher compared to this one.
Here are my 2 cents if you want to dine. My brother and I got the 6 oz ($39) and it didn’t look much different from our parent’s 4 oz ($28), but was $11 more. You can see in the picture (my 6 oz roll in the front and the 4 oz in the back). It also didn’t make us feel any different because we were all not full afterwards. Also, getting the lobster warm cost an extra $1… !!
The chips were also just the Cape Cod Kettle. I thought it would be put together nicely on my plate for the price point, but it was self-served.
The service was also cold. I’m going to be nice and say we’re prob just used to NY/NJ friendliness when it comes to service. But, since it’s our first time here, we didn’t know you just sit down and pay up front. No staff bother to say anything. Also, they weren’t rude or anything when we ordered, just cold and borderline annoyed like a “what do you want”. So, although I tipped on the $120, I shouldn’t have at all. That’s saying something. That’s just sad.
All-in-all, very very disappointed and will NOT recommend. It is a SCAM from the small amount of lobster (+ cold) at $40 to...
Read moreI've bought a quart of lobster bisque here for a takeout. It cost $40+tax. Once I tried it when I was back at home, and it tasted strange and bad. It was very watery. The lobster meat amount was rather small, and it tasted quite bad. I called to the restaurant and complained. The first guy said "I don't know what to say, I didn't cook it". The next guy said that the manager would call me to solve this. I've put the cup to the fridge, and then a few hours later it separated itself with a huge layer of water at the bottom, which is not normal for lobster bisque at all (see picture). It looks like it was blended with water on purpose. And so far, 5 days later, nobody has called. Which is why I am posting this review.
I should have known better. When I entered the place on Friday at about 6pm, it was completely empty, with a lot of staff chatting to each other and looking at me in a hostile way when I entered. I should have suspected that something is wrong. So I will never be back to this place. And I didn't even bother taking a receipt as I didn't even think that there could be any issues. Should have known better... Thankfully, I can do chargeback, but I will never get the...
Read moreJust stopped here on a recent trip to Boston and had a great experience. I visited for lunch during the week and there was absolutely no wait so was able to order right when I walked in.
I opted for the Lobster Roll combo - a sandwich, side and drink for about $20. It took under 5 minutes for me to get my food after ordering which was awesome.
The seating area is all seat yourself - the space was fairly full, but we were able to find two spots at a counter bar. Most of the seating only accommodates 2-4 people, so be aware that it will likely be really hard for a larger group to sit together. The space was clean, well lit and not overly loud which made our visit nice and enjoyable.
Overall - the sandwich was delicious. The lobster was fresh and the bun had that perfect buttered flavor. I opted for the poppyseed slaw for my side which I really liked - nice and flavorful without being too heavy. My only complaint would be that the sandwich was definitely small - so if you are really hungry I would definitely recommend doing their "jumbo" size or doing their trio of sandwiches.
Great convenient spot as well - right off of Newbury, close to the library and...
