PLNT Burger — Restaurant in Boston

Located in the corner of a Whole Foods store, PLNT Burger promises a unique and accessible foray into vegan burgers.

I decided to check it out post-shopping and ordered the double PLNT Burger along with a side of green bean fries. The double PLNT Burger was pretty robust for a plant-based offering. Layered with caramelized onions, pickles, plant-based American cheese, and PLNT sauce, the patties were bursting with umami. However, I found them to be a bit on the saltier side. While it certainly had flavor and was easily better than many of the vegan burgers I've had in Boston, it didn't quite meet my expectations for a 'healthier' alternative.

The green bean fries were a different story altogether. Served hot and crispy, they were a delight to munch on. Their inherent green bean taste was preserved despite the frying, and they offered a nice counterbalance to the saltiness of the burger.

While I wouldn't necessarily categorize PLNT Burger as a health-food spot based on this experience, it does offer a tasty and convenient option for those looking for plant-based alternatives. It's cool to have this within the whole foods, but the staff here are consistently incompetent. I've been going here every now and then for the last two years and they will get my order wrong about 50% of the time, often in more ways than one. For example, in the order I just placed, they tried to charge me for a chicken patty I didn't get, they gave me regular fries rather than the sweet potato fries I ordered, and they spelled my name wrong despite me spelling it out for them as I ordered. The name thing I don't actually care about, I'm just using it as part of this example. I also have a gluten allergy (celiac disease), I tell them this every time, and they have given me regular buns several times, which would've made me very sick had I not been careful about double checking their work (because I've come to expect them to mess up my orders). Usually a great place to grab some vegan things, but one of the staff there made me stressed. He took my order, put something incorrect, and I had to correct him. That was fine. But then it takes around 20 minutes to get my food. I ordered a shake and he gave me a soft serve instead. I told him this and he gave me a shake but the wrong flavor. I then sat down to eat and realized the fries were dusted with something spicy. This wasn’t what I ordered. I checked my receipt and the items listed were correct, so he just made my order wrong. The guy made me uncomfortable. He was really rushing around and didn’t seem to care when he messed up my items. I felt guilty for even bringing up that things were incorrect.
