I appreciate the theater being a classic venue with art decor design as well as one of the remaining fully steel build entertainment buildings from the 1900s. That is all great the design itself on a art standpoint... great... but the venue itself? Isn't so great is how it just isn't made for most bigger shows.
It almost surprised me seeing that this place was 3,500 in seating and not only is the stage extremely small from a view point but also the audio is very quiet and won't even over power the laugher or ramblings of people who constantly talk. Everyone is worried about people on phones now a days but we should all be worried about how much people talk over performances, now that isn't entirely the issue. The issue really is the seating and the view. The seats are all from 1970s Boston Redsox seating but actually even more narrow. The seat can barely fit a 6ft person weighing in at 215lbs. That is a bit tight for me OR anyone. Hell even the women next me me was a very slender body type and she even had a hard time in these seats. The way the floor goes up gives a view that can be interrupted by anyone that stands in front of you.
My advice is this. If it is a small show. It will work... probably if you don't mind tiny seats and lack of a screen to show the people in the back.
We went to see a comedian perform and that comedian was basically an ant because we had seats in the last section up in the back. Why is there not a large LCD/projector screen or something to see the acts on stage? Does it not exhist in 2025? The had a tiny 20 foot screen for the actor and that is it.
Beer is expensive for a can it's $17. Yes, they are talls but they are only 16oz that is insane for a 16oz beer.
Ushers are loud and a little obnoxious but not to bad
The management here tries and fit to many back to back shows in and it can cause mayhem when trying to exit and people come in, it's terrible, they don't even get time to sweep and clean up the seats and remove all the trash from people.
I don't get how this place is getting 5 stars up and down for years... why because it's old and legendary for being old?
Why is everyone so obsessed with old shitty things that are massively out of date and cause more inconveniences than not?
The only good thing about this theater is the hospital next to it has full garage parking and it's literally a 10 foot walk. That is the only best thing. The art and the music museum display cases are neat but I didn't come there to check out the rock and roll hall of fame. I'll check that out when I actually go to the rock and roll hall of fame. This theater needs a massive renovation. It starts with the seats, lighting, bathrooms and display and audio...
Read moreMy sister and I went to the Nier concert they held on 10/25. The concert itself was fantastic, one of the best we've been to all year but this place was the worst venue. I spoke to a guy seated next to us and he said "it's because we're nerds, isn't it?" It sounded like a joke, but it legitimately could have been! I am unsure if there was any other video game concert held at this theater, but it felt like the workers were unprepared to deal with such a large crowd of gamer nerds.
I do not like to complain about workers, as I have been working customer service my entire working life, and I understand how people can be, but the workers here were just plain rude. We had one nice lady who recommended we use the elevators when she saw us rushing to get to our seats, which I appreciated, but everyone else was so rude and unorganized. The line for the merch was confusing for everyone. The guy organizing the merch line did not know what he was doing. The line was really long, they had us go up three flights of stairs, wrapped around the staircase which caused a lot of confusion for everyone. People would ask where the end of the line was and were wondering why the line is so complicated to sort out. We missed the first three and a half songs, which my sister was absolutely devastated since it was some of her favorites. We even arrived super early so we would have time to get some merch but we still missed the beginning of the concert! I do appreciate that the venue allowed costumes, there were a lot of people dressed up as the characters from the games and it helped seeing them while waiting in such a long line.
The lady checking our tickets to let us into our spots was absolutely rude, yelling at us to hold on when we tried showing our tickets and waiting for whatever invisible mob was behind her (there was no one there but one other worker). It took a minute before she let us in, then gave us vague directions to our seats. The other guy leading people to their seats was just as unhelpful, pointing us in another vague direction and nothing else.
It was a nice looking place, with beautiful artwork and chandeliers, but I and another person tripped trying to get to our seats because the stairs leading to them were really steep. The seats were uncomfortable as well. All in all, a fantastic concert and beautiful theater marred by the terrible customer service. Hopefully they learn how to deal with a crowd of nerds...

The ushers. Ughhh. Enough of an unpleasant experience I’ll try to avoid the theater in the future. The signs posted no photos or videos, no problem, don’t need to, and I didn’t take a single one. I’m a mom, I wanted to check on my kids so while I’m up at the top of the orchestra, with my back to the stage, not obstructing or impacting anyone’s view at all, an usher comes running over and says NO PICTURES! I said thank you, I’m not taking a picture. She then demands I put my phone away and head to my seat, I again said thank you I’m ok and walk away from her. She then chases me down and says, you know, you’re at a concert, you need to turn your phone off, be present! Now, this makes me angry, I very much was present, the performer was in the middle of a song and I didn’t want to interrupt anyone’s viewing heading back to my sardine seat, and again was just waiting on a check in text (single text, it was bedtime and one of my kiddos was refusing bottles iykyk). I kindly responded that there was a sign for not filming or photos which I was not doing, there is not a sign for no phones, and I will keep my phone on me and on. This usher then chased me down to my seat claiming that my existence was a fire hazard. Maybe this place could use a few therapy dogs as it’s clear someone hurt this lady and she needs to prove her power for rules that aren’t posted or noted in any context.
You know, if you hate phones so much, maybe don’t have your ticket only available via mobile? There is no need to treat adults in...
