Came in around 9 p.m. for dinner. The place wasn’t packed, but the service was slow and chaotic. We waited a couple of minutes for what seemed like a drunk waiter to tell us to sit at a corner table — then he never came back. About 10 minutes later, someone dropped off bread and water without saying a word. A while after that, someone else finally took our order.

Roughly 15 minutes later, an appetizer we didn’t order was brought to the table. They insisted it was what we asked for, but it wasn’t. I didn’t argue — just went with it. Nearly 50 minutes in, we still hadn’t received our food, and no one had checked in. I told one of the waiters we’d be leaving in five minutes if nothing came. Only then did our food show up — lukewarm, like it had been sitting out for a while.

They apologized and said the kitchen was slammed, but there weren’t any active diners and the chefs were just sitting around. Not worth the wait, not worth the price, and definitely not the experience I expected. Really disappointing.

Side note: If you’re a younger woman, watch out for the waiting staff hitting on you. I watched one waiter for nearly the full 50 minutes we were waiting, constantly hovering over two women at their table — touching them, messing with their food and drinks, and clearly making them uncomfortable. They didn’t look entertained...

I am so very sad to share that I will never return to this restaurant again. My friend and I went out to eat one night and I decided to check my bank account a few days later and noticed that our server had taken more money from me for her tip, illegally. Our server, Matilda, had taken an extra $9 from my card and an extra $12 from my friends card. Tip is already included with your check but my friend and I decided to be nice and give her a few extra bucks and she still had the audacity to take more from us! This is a crime. When I notified the restaurant, instead of doing good business and giving us a FULL refund, they said that they can’t give us the exact amount that was taken from us illegally, they could only select an item from the menu that was close to the amount that was taken from us. They refunded me $8.36 and my friend $14.46. They refunded me less than the amount that was taken from me. Please, please beware of this restaurant. I tried to get in touch with the owner several times but was told he was “ too busy to deal with me.” I am disgusted and will never go...

This review aims to shed light with the hope of inspiring positive change among the owners. Despite being a supporter due to its status as a minority-owned establishment, I expect more than just that reason. The food quality varies, falling within the realm of average and nothing exceptional. Additionally, the extended waiting times are notable. A longstanding concern involves the scarce presence of hosts at the entrance. The furniture, tables, and bathroom necessitate an update, as their current condition is quite off-putting. While the staff members are remarkable, the issue of high turnover is evident. Consequently, the perpetual influx of new staff impacts service consistency due to frequent onboarding. I strongly believe that this business should prioritize enhancing its food offerings, customer hospitality, and overall ambiance. Given the absence of direct competitors, there appears to be a tendency to settle for the minimum effort. I believe they can do better and merely chooses to not listen to customer...

This place is apparently the most well-known place for Cape Verdian food in Boston, so I dropped by to try some. We tried to go for the dish that was the least familiar to us and ended up getting the traditional katchupa and the refried katchupa. I preferred the texture of the traditional one better as the refried one was very dry. Without any sauce, the refried katchupa also tasted a tad bland. On the other hand, the traditional katchupa came in a stew style which compensated for the dry texture of the hominy. The dish overall was quite simple, but I liked its rugged touch that made it feel like a homemade meal.

This is THE place to go for Cape Verdean food in Boston. Whether you're familiar with CV culture or just interested in trying something new, you have to try it for yourself. Lots of fresh saucy seafood dishes. The cuisine from this archipelago, like the people, is a beautiful mix of West African, and Portuguese. Our table had the fried tuna dish (Atun Dourado), Shrimp Mozambique and the steak. A bit under salted for my taste, but once that was rectified, I enjoyed the food greatly. The fried yuca appetizer tasted previously frozen and was under cooked

Horrible service we had a large party of 14 took hr and a half to get our drinks. Took another hr before some of our party's food started coming out they made us all order together u would think the food would come out that way. They forgot 2 peoples plates altogether and when those 2 plates did come out 2 and a half hours later it was cold .Sad birthday girl whom we was celebrating of course was the last plate to come out she ending up taking to go. Would not recommend
