The quality of the food is excellent. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with skill. Sandwiches are packed, hearty, and exactly what you want from a Southie classic. It is the kind of comfort food you’ll think about long after you leave.

The atmosphere is cool, lively, and bustling, with a mix of regulars and visitors alike. It does get very busy, and you should expect to wait, but the wait is absolutely worth it. In fact, seeing how many people are willing to line up here tells you all you need to know about the reputation and consistency of this place.

I am a retired chef working this business for 50 years and worked at some of the best and worst in and around the Boston area. I work now as a restaurant consultant and podcaster. Back in 2022 someone told me about this place. I went in and told them who I was. I was shocked at the volume they do with customers out the door. Fast forward to today, I went in with my wife and one of our sons who is 39. The speed, accuracy and cleanliness they work at is impressive but the quality is off the hook. Our son had the Steak n Cheese sub and said one of the best he has ever had. It is in my top 3 over 50 years. But today they had a lunch special Ziti n Meatballs. I had the small portion that I could not finish and just had the rest for my dinner. The meatballs were incredible and the marinara sauce was amazing with perfectly cooked el dente pasta. OMG what a place, I’m glad I live an hour away….scary great and worth the ride. Nice Job...

We have lived in the neighborhood for a couple years and have heard all about this place, yet haven’t had a chance to visit til today - hence expectations were high. First thing I noticed when I arrived at peak lunch hours was how hard the folks behind the counter were working. I don’t think any of them paused for a second to even catch their breath. And at the same time as being super efficient, they were friendly. On to the food: The large steak bomb I got was HUGE, prolly twice the meat as other places. I usually easily put back a sub this size but in the future gonna hafta stick to a regular size. Finally, the taste: nothing to say other than meets the extremely high expectations I had.
