My dine in dinner experience was good overall. First we sat at the bar while we waited for others to join us for a table we had reserved the bar service was really good The drinks were somewhere between good and really good. The specialty drinks were what we selected from and I think the choices were creative and seem to keep in mind a fair amount of detail (for instance they are located very close to Chinatown and they had a specialty drink on the menu that had soju in it). For dinner I was not overly impressed with the menu it is comfort food with a modern twist. However, I didn't feel that the variety of food offerings was very good. Two of us had a burger of sorts, one of us had the country fried steak, and one of us had a salad. All of us agreed that the food was definitely good just not good enough to make us want to come back or tell others about it. For dessert we shared an apple crumble in an order of the ricotta donut holes. The apple crumble was tasty but for me the apples were undercooked they still had a crunch and maybe that was intentional but I am accustomed to the apples being soft throughout. The donut holes were good and reminded me a lot of beignets with the chocolate dipping sauce and lots of powdered sugar. Again, nothing really warranted coming back or suggesting this to others. As for the atmosphere I think this restaurant had superb cleanliness, was very modern, The seating was comfortable both at the bar and the tables. The staff seemed very nice overall. However, I believe we overstayed our welcome because at some point the lights went dim flashed a couple times and then a server came to our table and told us it was time to "call it a night " which we all thought was a little rude since nobody had even come over and nicely suggested that the restaurant closes at 10:00 p.m. I'm thinking this occurred probably around 10:10 p.m. had someone just come over at 9:30 on 9:45 and warned us we would have gladly been up and out of the place before 10:00. Maybe we should have taken a hint by the lights dimming, but honestly we were in conversation with each other and we did make note of it but thought maybe it was last call or something like that. The place was not crowded but there were other people still in the restaurant. Parking in the area may not be the easiest to find but it certainly can be done. My recommendation would be to come a little earlier than your reservation and try to find parking neighborhood at a...
Read moreI don’t normally leave reviews but our overall experience was so bad I felt compelled to do so. We were in search of a quick bite to eat as we wanted to make sure we made it to the airport on time. We stopped by Stillwater as it didn’t seem too busy inside. We were seated but the waitress took forever to come by. After never being acknowledged we decided to just grab food from the bar. As we walked to the bar, we were stopped by said waitress and asked “what’s the problem, where are you guys going” . I responded as politely as I could we are in a time crunch to catch a flight so we’re just going to grab food to go at the bar. She seemed very annoyed and tried to take our orders then. We attempted to order from the brunch menu but were informed brunch is only on certain days. We asked if it was ok if we sit at the bar to look at our other options. At the bar, a gentleman took our order and was very understanding of our situation. He rushed the order to the back and acknowledged us as customers. So because of his kindness we asked if we could just eat at the bar instead of taking it to go which he was okay with. As we are waiting, said waitress walks over to the bartender and begins a conversation about us. Asking him what we’re doing? “ I thought they were getting their food to go.” Etc etc Rolls her eyes and continuously stares over at us as if we committed a crime by sitting at the bar. I personally felt very uncomfortable…and have never had that experience at a restaurant before. At that point I should’ve canceled our order and left but again we were in a rush and decided to stay put. But after all this our food was pretty terrible. I ordered the crispy smoked chicken wings with honey mustard. I received dry wings with no honey mustard and blue cheese on the side. My friend ordered the steak and bleu pita. Her house chips were good but the pita sandwich was horrible. But to add insult to injury we both felt very nauseous within thirty minutes of our meal. Safe to say I will not be returning to this establishment. With so many great options in downtown Boston why settle for a place with poor customer service and...
Read moreThis is a cute restaurant. There decor was adorable I loved the couches that made up some of the seating. Came here for restaurant week but the regular menu had better variety so myself and my 2 friends each ended up just ordered from the main menu. For Appetizers we ordered deviled eggs, chicken chili and biscuits. All three were amazing. Flavorful and fresh...the whipped chicken drippings that came with the biscuits put it over the top. For entrees we ordered the honey Creole salmon, sweet potato dumplings and the chicken fried steak. The Creole salmon tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection. Not sure what they call a Creole rub but it was not what was expected. The accompanying crayfish risotto was very rich and creamy. Sweet potato dumpling were surprisingly good along with the creamy mushroom sauce. Didn't need the enormous "pearl" onions but they didn't take away from the amazing dish. The finale was the strawberry shortcake; this came with a creamy lemon sauce schmeerd next to the pound cake topped with sliced strawberries. Very tasty and not overly sweet. The only bad thing for us were the drinks. None of them were good. My friend ordered an espresso martini, the cocktail came out and the cup looked half full. She asked the woman for a new one and looked great when it came out but tested like coffee water. I ordered 2 drinks an old fashioned and a cosmo both were meh. My other friend like her drink. My final thoughts are they need to sell a 6 pack of biscuit with the whipped...
