Update: The response SKA left for my review is already a good indication of poor customer service, telling me to consult a dermatologist when I have been CONSISTENTLY and FREQUENTLY getting my hair dyed since for 15 years. I have had NO issues in the past with any other hair salon for 15 years of my life and they're telling me to consult a dermatologist. I went to another hair salon after SKA and had no reaction to the products.
I got my hair dyed here twice.
On first occasion, it was just dying my roots but they couldn't get the color correct so after the first try, the newly dyed roots weren't even matching the color of my hair, which is extremely amateur of them (especially because they do this so often) but I stayed for another try. I felt nice enough to tip them afterwards because the stylist was attentive in my 2nd try. But because they applied chemicals twice in a row, my scalp was irritated and itchy for WEEKS. This I still lived with because I understood this can be a potential consequence if you dye twice in a row.
On my 2nd visit for hair dye, I was doing full hair dye and it didn't have to take two tries this time (by the way, my hair is naturally black and I was dying this dark brown, not any crazy color). My scalp was irritated AGAIN afterwards and I contacted them only to get a response like "this isn't our fault b/c you're the only customer that complains about our products." What kind of customer service is this? I wanted at least a more apologetic tone and an attentive service. I was not even asking for anything. Remember, I actually WENT BACK to this place after the 1st irritation because I appreciated how attentive they became after they messed up the first time. Just incredibly rude when you complain about anything.
Also, the seats they wash your hair in are SO uncomfortable that they hurt my neck a lot. I've been to many salons and this is one place where I thought was underinvesting in basic amenities such as that.
Don't trust the reviews. They pressure you to give them good reviews at the end of the service (I was too in my...
Read moreI don’t typically leave reviews online. However, I felt disappointed with my hair. I only asked for curtain bangs, long layers and to keep my same length. When I saw my hair I thought it looked fine my bangs didn’t come out just how I like them but i thought it was okay. I think bangs can be difficult to do. However after I left I felt my hair and saw it was severely thinned out. My natural hair is pretty thick and I prefer it that way. I also do get my hair thinned in other salons but they went overboard and it feels like I have no hair on the bottom of my hair. My hair resembles a wolf cut style which I did not ask for. I wish they asked their clients how thinned they would like their hair before they do so. I did pay my $75 for the cut and tipped. I wish I felt my hair before I left the salon. If you go here and have naturally thick hair then ask how thin you would like...
Read moreIt was a privilege to have Nan as my hair stylist at SKA. I messaged the team with a specific look in mind, and they recommended that I come get a consultation. During the consultation, Nan assessed my hair texture, condition, and recommended a Korean perm. Because I have super thick hair, I was nervous about the result – but Nan assured me it would help me achieve the volume that I was seeking. In my second appointment, Nan did the wash, cut, perm, and also taught me how to care for / style the perm. I appreciated how detail-oriented, and thoughtful her approach was. For example, because I recently had some hair loss & regrowth, she took the time to painstakingly perm the baby hairs that were just growing out. The final result was exactly what I had hoped for! I'd highly recommend visiting SKA (and Nan) for an incredible hair care experience....
