Dish Gourmet — Restaurant in Boulder

I would be absolutely remiss if I didn't take a moment to shower compliments on Dish Gourmet. While it seems like much of the Boulder community knows of Dish's location on Pearl and their delicious food, I discovered them while looking for a caterer for summer events at our office when the quotes from another local catering company that a colleague recommended came back with astronomical prices.

We have now had Dish cater two of our three summer events, with the largest and final event being next week, and I have received nothing but rave reviews from all of my meeting attendees on the food, with several stating that it was the best catered food they had ever had at an event through my office. Not only has the food been delicious, but Dish is unfailingly reliable, on-time, and so friendly whenever they come by!

I have primarily worked with Rebecca on our orders and she is so communicative, accommodating and helpful, making sure all dietary restrictions are taken into consideration when drawing up menus for my groups. I have been so grateful for her patience, even as we added on additional meals at the last minute as plans for dinners at local restaurants fell through. I should mention also that every quote that we have received for meals from Dish was significantly lower than the other catering quote received from another local catering company, which of course made my higher-ups very pleased!

It has been a genuine pleasure to work with Rebecca and the Dish crew, and it is very safe to say that Dish will be my number 1 choice for office catering moving forward. I'll also have to stop in on Pearl for lunch in the very near future. So I have been coming to this place for a while, and the food is good... if you can get it. I mostly order online.

At this point I cannot count the times I have had orders changed, missing things, them calling me because they're out of stuff. Today I was trying to place an order online and it wasn't working. I called them and the very rude person on the line dismissively told me they'd turned online ordering off for the day. Well, fair enough, it's a small kitchen. Trying to be helpful, I told her there was no messaging on the website indicating this so it just looked like it was broken, which was very confusing to me. She literally said: "yeah, well I'm not a manager but I'll pass that along". Right.

I really wanted this place to be good, but it just wasn't. I ordered the Thanksgiving sandwich which should have been packed with flavor, but it was such a sad meal. The sandwich was little more than a couple of turkey slices slathered in a very thin layer of cranberry jelly...no stuffing, no gravy. It was completely flavorless and uninspired. It was so disappointing that--still hungry and now craving the real deal--I went to the store, bought a box of stovetop stuffing, a can of cranberry sauce, and made my own version (pictured) at home that was 10x better than theirs.
