Solid score of 3 overall for the Bowie location and normally Canes other locations is 4 for me because of their strips. I don’t have the perfect chicken strip place for a score of 5 yet so take this review for what it is.
My quick background of Canes. I’ve eaten at least 10 different Canes locations in my time. Two in Virginia, two in Oklahoma, one in Mississippi, one in Houston, and three in Louisiana. Now Bowie.
This location by far has the saltiest 🧂fries I’ve ever had at Cane’s. It wasn’t just a fluke as I’ve eaten here 5 times now and 3 of the 5 times the fries were very salty. Today the 16th of September they stepped up their salt game adding more salt than I thought would be possible on a fry. I’m sad I didn’t take a picture.
The chicken strips I’ve received the last three times were on the 🐥🐥small side (score of 3). Not sure if that’s a new Canes thing at other locations because it was over 6 months ago at the Norfolk VA location.
Staff has been pretty friendly and I only had attitude on one visit when I asked for the military discount and they had to get a supervisor. The person seemed new and was trying to move the line along.
If you’ve never been to a Canes check it out sometime. The food is a little pricy but what’s not pricy today. The sauce is where it’s at for me, (my wife doesn’t like the sauce, so maybe you’re in that hate camp).
The story behind the founder is pretty cool and eating there reminds me of my dad’s time living in Baton Rouge. I’ll be back but mostly for the consistency of the strips and sauce. Work better on getting larger strips and cut the salt like 70% (read other reviews about the salt). I’ll add pictures next time I go, for health reasons it might be a minute.
Ask for the military discount if you’re in...
Read moreWent to this fast food restaurant for the first time at the request of my child. There was no one in the drive thru line which was good as that meant I got the food quickly. The tenders were blazing hot which is great. I opened the box immediately when I got it to allow the food to cool off. The fries were underwhelming, no flavor. They were a little old looking, definitely not crispy. The tenders took a while to cool off and because my toddler was sitting in the backseat, I tried to break the tender to give her half and to make sure the middle was cooked all the way. The tenders had a strange texture, almost stringy and not easy to separate with my fingers. After reviewing other comments, I also feel like they could be cooked much longer. I tried a piece and it appeared to be cooked fully but they could use some...
Read moreI have never been to a fast food restaurant that is constantly out of bottled water. The last time I visited, I ordered a meal with a bottle of water. The clerk did not tell me RC was out of bottled water when I placed the order. When I received my food they gave me a cup of ice water. I told them I do not want the water and to refund me for the drink. The manager looked at me crazy because I wanted to be refunded twenty something cents. Yes, refund me because I am not getting what I ordered and I was not informed bottled water wasn't available when I placed my order.
Also, the french fries were over salted and the chicken is too greasy.
Raising Cane's is starting to not live up to the hype. I'm not impressed. I only visited the last time for...
