I’m always on the lookout for hidden gems, and A’ Lu Mexican Cuisine came highly recommended on social media. The buzz around this establishment set high expectations, and I couldn’t wait to see if it lived up to the hype.
Ambiance & Atmosphere: The moment you step into A’ Lu, it’s hard not to be captivated by its stunning design. The space is modern yet inviting, with large tables perfect for groups, thoughtfully curated decor, and a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor seating. Despite its architectural charm, the restaurant was noticeably quiet—save for a private event filling one of the larger dining areas.
Service: A Mixed Bag Unfortunately, our experience began to unravel shortly after being seated. A nearly ten-minute wait just to have our water and cocktail order taken set the tone for the evening. Once our drinks and appetizers were finally on the table, the server disappeared for an extended period before returning to take our entrée orders. This inattentiveness overshadowed the genuine efforts of the manager, who stepped in later to address our concerns.
Food & Drinks: We started with a couple of signature margaritas, ceviche, and queso. The initial cocktails were well-crafted, but the follow-up round was shockingly inconsistent—overly sour and lacking the balance of the first. The ceviche and queso were enjoyable, but neither dish stood out as exceptional.
Then came the entrees: the Mahi and a three-taco platter. The presentation was beautiful, but the Mahi was a major disappointment—dry, bland, and undoubtedly frozen. A side of glaze barely salvaged a bite. While the manager graciously offered to remake the dish and later removed it from the bill, the damage to the overall dining experience was done.
Final Thoughts: A’ Lu Mexican Cuisine has the potential to be a standout restaurant with its stunning ambiance and thoughtful presentation. However, the lack of consistency in cocktails, inattentive service, and poor food quality hold it back.
Ratings: • Ambiance: 4.5/5 – A visual treat that promises a memorable dining experience. • Service: 3/5 – While the manager was accommodating, the overall service left much to be desired. The food expediter was excellent. • Food Quality: 2/5 – Beautiful presentation, but execution was severely lacking. • Cocktails: 3/5 – Inconsistent quality detracted from the initial promise.
Overall Rating: 3/5 A’ Lu Mexican Cuisine has the potential to shine, but it needs to address these critical issues before earning a spot as a top-tier dining destination. While I may give it another try in the future, it won’t be...

Read moreSo many things are wrong with this restaurant. I was in a group of 8. More than half of us didn't like our food. I ordered chicken tacos (how can that go wrong?) but it was cheap shredded chicken. My girlfriend ordered a salad which had canned corn and all the dressing pooled on the bottom with the top lettuce completely dry. Of the whole group, I ordered first, and then my food came out almost a half hour before anyone else's. I was nearly done by the time the 2nd person got their food. It took the waiter a full half an hour to bring us our checks as well. He would bring 2 people's checks, then go and wait on 2-3 other tables, then come back with the next 2 checks in our group, then wait more tables, etc. It's not like he was the only waiter there either... And on top of all of that, he mixed up two people's allergies. One person in our group was allergic to nuts and one to fish. He came back and didnt give anyone nuts on their salad since "the table" had a fish allergy.... What?? Since when has an entire table had an allergy? Meanwhile another girl didnt receive tomatoes since they were stored near fish. That wasnt the girl with a fish allergy though... the girl with a fish allergy still received the tomatoes that were stored near the fish 😂 It's funny because we caught it so nobody got hurt, but the lack of attention to a detail as important as allergies is extremely concerning. And then at the end of the night, my bill was wrong. My bill was $30 higher than it was supposed to be because the waiter added 3 of my entrees to my bill instead of just one. TL;DR: Not great food, not really Mexican food (they had lasagna but no fajitas or burritos), they messed up people's allergies, brought our food out at wildly different times, took forever to bring us our checks, and messed up my bill. I would not recommend and will not...
