I am giving El Atico a 1-star review due to their horrible customer service, as well as the false information on their menu, which they refuse to correct - hence purposefully misleading customers. We have been dining there since they opened. In the beginning everyone used to be extremely courteous and accommodating. Sadly, that is no longer the case. Every time we place a phone order the staff is impatient, rude and unprofessional. This is the last time we will ever dine there and will no longer recommend this place to anyone every again. There are so many other Colombian restaurants that are much better in taste, price and customer service that I would prefer to support instead of this location. Like I said, it's all due to poor customer service, and to make matters worse they have a menu item called "Picada El Atico" where the single portion (For 1 - $14.99) does not include all the food items that are listed for that dish. The funny thing is that 6 months ago - it did! Now, conveniently, it doesn't. Therefore, if you are a single person wanting this dish the owners have basically decided to force you into paying for the double serving $30 in order to get all of the meats. This is false information, purposefully misleading the public and I am happy to report that I have reported them to the BBB. I hope that either the owner reads this and takes some serious action to remedy this because it is not right to mislead the public. If you are serious about offering a menu item that does not include all of the elements that are listed on the menu, then correct your menu. Also, since when is it a crime to ask for substitutions? Not everyone likes blood sausages or pork belly, and you would think that the restaurant would make an accommodation to substitute it for either more of the chicken or beef - but no, they blatantly refused and said they would only give more Colombian sausage because the "chicken and beef" are too expensive to sub into a dish that you are already being forced to pay $30. In addition, to make matters worse, the existing chicken and beef portions were drastically reduced and conveniently upped the portion of the colombian sausage. Why? It's obvious they are defrauding the customer by giving them more of the cheaper protein so they can pocket the profits. Horrible. Good luck and hope you have a good story for the BBB. I hope you teach your staff how to be polite to everyone no matter if they are Spanish or non-Spanish speaking customers. You give...
Read moreHad light lunch at El Atico yesterday. I was looking forward to have a good Colombian food here in Florida. I ordered 3 chicken empanadas for my husband, they were ok not the best like we had back home in New Jersey. I got myself a caldo de costilla and for me to read it the menu too fast my understanding was including arepa with cheese. So the waitress came with the empanadas and my caldo with rice on the side and she left. 3-5 mins passed by i was still waiting my arepa thought they had forgotten about it. Since we sat at outside i cant look or wave to the waiter to come by to our table so i had to wait, wait and wait until different lady came out (she might’ve the manager or the owner I’m not sure) and asked us is everything ok. So i explained her my confusion and she explained to me that they assumed most people will like it with rice. I said to myself assumed is wrong, better ask customers which one they would like just for the safest choice 🤷🏻♀️ especially when they customers wasn’t Hispanic. She told me if I still wanted the arepa I will get charged $1 more which I was ok with it. I mean I LOVE arepa with cheese so $1 more I’m more than ok. Sooooo when they brought my arepa with cheese I was like 🤔🤔 why this looks different. I tried to eat it but the cheese that they used I’m not so sure what cheese was it. But anyway they tried for give best service/ food and I tried their food but is just not for my likes. Not to mention the caldo was also kind of salty for me, the price was also a bit high for a caldo that most of it just broth with one piece chunk of beef and one big potato for almost $18. At the end of it, they didn’t charged the extra $1 for me which that was a nice things to do from them. That was my own...
Read moreThis restaurant has their days. Some days the food is fresh and seasoned well and some days not so much. I'm a big fan of consistency along with good customer service. Yesterday I ordered the churrasco steak cooked medium with rice, beans (extra), AND sweet plantains. When I got home my order was missing the sweet plantains. I called and they advised that they gave me extra beans instead of my 3 sides even though that isn't what I asked for and did not mind paying extra for the beans as I usually do with no problem. The person who answered the phone said oh I didn't understand you, but you can come get the sweet plantains but you would have to pay for it. Paying for what I want is not the issue, but when I specify what I want in my order and the restaurant makes a mistake on their part that needs to be taken into account. Aside from not getting sweet plantains, the food quality was not good yesterday. The steak tasted like rubber, the rice was hard and undercooked, the food overall was not fresh and I had to wait 20 minutes for my order to get ready? I will not lie and say that their food is never good because it is... sometimes... but it is not consistent. This one star is based off of my experience yesterday, I probably will not be back there any time soon or ever for...
