It's okay for being the only easily accesible poke shop in town.
I mean, we keep coming back so it's obviously not terrible but it's also extremely inconsistent. I actually held off on writing this review until our after our fourth visit to make a fair judgement.
Yo Poke is a good option if you're looking for a quick and easy meal. The quality of the fish is on the mid-level of good and the ingredients are typically fresh. As for the store itself, it's kept very clean and there are a several tables and chairs if you choose to sit and eat.
We've visited on a few occasions now and the staff has been friendly every single time. The biggest problem lies in consistency. On two out of four visits, we received poke bowls that were so sad looking with 6 or 7 little cubes of fish. On the other two visits, we were served a portion that looks like most other restaurants offer. (I've been BYO poke restaurants in several states).
At this point, we watch the person building our bowls getting a tiny half scoop of protein, usually fish, or a full one. It's very interesting to me how the servings can come out so different even though they literally use the same scooper...just fill that tiny little thing up and let's call it a day. To be honest, a full scoop versus a half scoop usually determines a generous tip or a "this is just to be nice" one.
The food itself is usually pretty tasty, no complaints on that front.
Here is one of my favorite BYO combos: Sushi Rice Proteins: Tuna & Salmon Mix-ins: White & Green Onions. Sauces: Shoyu & Wasabi Mayo. Sides: Edamame, Surimi Salad, Ginger & Avocado Toppings: Sesame Oil, Tempura Flakes & Furikake
If you try it, let me know what you think!
Oh, one more thing! Don't try to order from GrubHub. I've tried to order delivery 3 times and my order was delayed by more than 2 hours every single time before it...
Read moreWarning! I stopped in this establishment after hearing they had good sushi burritos. What I experienced was appalling. Not only was there no welcome, but the kid who walked out from the back acted like he was unhappy to see another customer. Then proceeds to mindlessly take my order. That's just the start, he then puts gloves on to lazily make my food. Proceeds to start coughing over my food and open bins like I'm sure he wasn't feeling well by the demeanor. On top of that when another worker walks out of the back he tells her the other half of my order. Here's the DANGER part he places both hands palms down on the counter. This counter looked like it had not been wiped all day I'm talking juices from raw salmon, a whole shrimp, pieces of vegetables. Then proceeded to touch all of the food he was making with those same gloved hands. The female worker must have been new because he instructed her how to make the chicken nacho plate I ordered. All while placing his gloved hand into the container they were to be placed in. After witnessing him rub his hands all over the seaweed for the shrimp burrito I ordered. I had to say something canceled my order and walked out. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the counter, and his name I was too disgusted to think ATM. Will never return...
Read moreI experienced gangstalking from almost the minute I stepped into the restaurant. Not only were the staff violating my constitutional rights to privacy, but they were also slandering me with statements which I have proven false, which is grounds for a defamation lawsuit. In fact just me thinking I was going to write this review about my constitutional rights being violated triggered more obvious gangstalking, as another one of the staff came out from the back kitchen to start slandering me with patently false information. It was unmistakable as it happened right after I thought about writing this review. These people do not know me, it is not clear what they think they are doing when they chose to violate the Constitution in order to slander me in ways I have proven to be false. I'll hold off on a lawsuit, but this kind of falsely defamatory behavior which tramples on the Constitution is not something I think...
