TL;DR: Try the Grilled Pineapple Margarita and the Birria Quesadilla.
We stopped in while in the area to visit some family. They specifically recommended this Mexican restaurant. The menu is a tad limited in some aspects, but what is on offer sounded pretty good and they offer a variety of margaritas.
One of our party had a Grilled Pineapple Margarita that was very interesting when I got a taste. It's almost savory and smokey. Not my preference, but definitely worth a try.
The salsa was not spicy and a little flat in the flavor but by no means bland. The chips are the thicker variety served by some Mexican restaurants with any meal.
I ordered the Birria Quesadilla. If you've never had Birria, think of it as a tasty broth to dip your quesadilla/tacos in. They were on par with expectations, but nothing special aside from being a Birria Quesadilla.
My wife/daughter both had the Branson Plate (chicken) this was effectively the staple chicken cheese and rice dish. It was apparently delicious. My wife noted that there were no vegetables in the rice as opposed to the typical peas, and potatoes that sometimes are included in Mexican rice. My daughter's was the cheaper/smaller kids version of this plate.
Sodas and tea had an odd taste with it. I don't know if we are unexpectedly sick, there's a water quality issue, or what might cause that. It's an almost milky aftertaste.
The atmosphere left much to be desired, but the restaurant was clean and not too loud. Service was on par with...
Read moreUpdate Returned on a Tuesday Price- very good value Carne Asada tacos- fresh warm soft tortillas. Meat was small cubes perfectly seasoned but a little dry. Onions-very dry could not taste them. Cilantro- almost non-existent which was disappointing because I love cilantro
Peach margarita - Wow it was delicious but I would be hesitant to say for sure that there was actually any tequila in it. But considering it was so tasty, so cheap and I was driving I won't complain
Shrimp Jalapenos-Had these again because they were so good last time. Unfortunately they probably only had about 1/3 the cheese this time. They were still great just not compared to my previous visit
Service - still wonderful. So kind and quick that I think that alone may have made the food a little better Price - a little steep. I ordered by phone on a Tuesday not realizing what excellent deals they had available for Taco Tuesday so I wound up paying near double what I could have The chicken taco salad left a little to be desired. Very wet and all the stuff that should have been cold was warm and vice versa But flavor was still good Queso- just... is. Nothing stands out Salsa -Same BUT Deep Fried shrimp stuffed jalapenos are out of this world fantastic. These and the wonderful service are the reasons I will be returning to try other things on the menu very soon. As always I will continually update my review...
Read moreWe have been coming to Branson for many years. The restaurants have come and gone as well as some of the service and good food. But this place is a complete exception to that statement.
The Mezcal Restaurant and Stephanie will put Branson back on the map for Friendliness and good food. A small, clean, bright, and quieter restaurant, this is a must for anyone in Branson, living in Branson, or just driving thru. This place will grow fast.
My wife had 3 beef tacos and I ordered the carnitas tacos, both with beans and rice. She thought the presentation was nice and the beef very good. The shells were not tough. The food was served at the proper temperature.
For my carnitas tacos the presentation was excellent. The rice was formed in a dish and the beans were in a dish by themselves which I thought a little different. Lime with rice. Nice. The carnitas with onion and cilantro was very flavorful and had a unique roasted flavor.
Prices are very reasonable and I’m almost positive the rest of the menu is just as good. You won’t...
