Good food, we have been coming here since Ca Fish Grill opened but since it was purchased by an investment firm it has gone downhill corporate style.
Whenever a group purchases a family run business the only thing that matters is the bottom line and trust me….. Ca Fish Grill is using a dropper loop!
There are no people to take your order any longer. Now there are kiosks for you to order yourself which take twice as long and now you get to touch where every persons “nose picker” fingers have been. Once your order is placed a big TIP screen shows up and as I sat there and watched other customers touch up to a 25% tip, I thought to myself “FOR WHAT?” Then the receipt is given and someone calls your name where you go pick up your food and serve yourself.
So back to the tip…. Why in the F would anyone deserve a tip there? Who should get it? The cook getting paid $20 an hour to cook your food or the person picking up your plates and silverware after you finish eating? Are the employees not getting paid enough so the top money goes to help them make ends meet for standing around not doing much? The manager was there and she was barking orders at people who were just standing around ignoring her. The cook was the only guy working! I asked the manager if the new miso slaw had Kayle in it and she didn’t even know the ingredients of the food they serve.

Read moreI used to love California Fish Grill but hadn’t been back for a while because it’s not conveniently located for me but decided to try it again today. Unfortunately a lot has changed. People are waiting to be seated but many tables were piled up with dirty dishes and there is no one to ask for assistance. No one demonstrating how to use the self serve menu or answer a question about the menu. While I watched several people get irritated attempting to use the self- order platform, no one helped. I was customers trying to assist each other. I listened to several people say they were not going to leave a tip and why should they.and not even able to successfully pay, aside from cooks, there is no one actually helping. Our order was wrong, the person next to me shared that their order also was wrong but everyone is so irritated with this format that no one had felt it was worth it to ask for help. Read moreI ordered the Salmon Grill Salad Bowl through the kiosk, but when I received my order, the salmon was half-cooked. I returned it to the counter and requested that it be grilled more thoroughly. Unfortunately, the response I received from the staff was less than ideal. The lady speaking to me was loud and in a way felt rude. She informed me that I should have requested "well-done" when ordering and that they cannot put the salmon back on the grill once it has been served.
I understand that policies like this exist, but I would have appreciated a more polite and understanding response, especially in front of other customers. Additionally, there didn’t seem to be an option to specify the cooking preference for the fish when I ordered, which could have helped avoid this misunderstanding.
I love the food at California Fish Grill and hope to see the service improve so that all customers feel welcomed and valued. Thank you for considering...
