In a nutshell, um not so much a fan. Stopped there while on a road trip and found it easy to hop off/on the fwy. This place is located in a strip plaza and parking wasn't too bad. Normally, I find that walking into a donut shop the first thing you get hit with is the lingering aroma of donuts scenting the air, and that should've been the first clue to walk right out, but desperation propelled me forward, oh and hunger pangs, too. I took a look at the offerings, and noticed some tiny looking spheres in the glass case. At first I thought, hmm cute kid sized donuts, or for those on a diet. Not seeing anything to my liking, I chose a ham & cheese croissant and a dz donut holes. Figured can't go wrong with either. Oops, wrong assumption. Back on the road again, I was glad to get a nice bite of that large, warm croissant, but alas the disappointing result was a bitter tasting mouthful of nothing. The filling--not so much. A schmear of cheese (which tasted rancid) and a slice of deli ham (no flavor) and did I mention the croissant was bitter tasting. Needless to say, couldn't even take another bite. It was a good thing I got the dozen glazed donut holes, or so I thought. The holes, tiny. Tasted like old frying oil. The glaze overly sweet, made my teeth hurt. A disappointing food experience? Ya, I've had them, but never with donuts. Idk, I'm sure locals enjoy this place, or maybe it was an off day for the prep crew, but what I do know is that it was too dang early in the morning to be disheartened. Will I give it a try again? Nope. When a place only offers one item and it's many variations, how can it be screwed up so badly? I would caution not to order what I did and give it a try. I look forward to reading your take/post on...
Read moreDon’t cash in your scratch off lottery tickets at this place. I had (3) tickets which totaled $80 but the lady claimed she didn’t receive those (3) tickets from me when she totaled my tickets up. She kept the tickets for herself and it was nothing that I could do about it. She gave me back my remaining money for my other tickets but again she kept the tickets that amounted to more money. My husband and I were regular customers and was so disappointed in this criminal behavior. We are still in disbelief that something like this could even occur. I must also add that my husband recorded me checking those (3) tickets on their machine (immediately before attempting to cash them in) because we were so excited to win so much money on scratch off tickets. We mentioned the recording to the lady but she still insisted we didn’t give her those (3) tickets. We figured apparently she needed the money more than we did. Again, we are so disappointed to be treated and cheated in this manner. We are both retired professionals and taken aback by this blatant criminal behavior. We have both said prayers for her because again apparently she needed the money more than we did. We will no longer patronize the JAX in Brea....
Read moreHappy to support Jax Donuts! Not only are their donuts soft, fresh, and delicious—they also have amazing customer service.
My son is the senior class president at the local high school, which means he’s often responsible for ordering large amounts of donuts for school events. The first time, he ordered 6 dozen. He walked in, placed the order with the very kind lady at the counter, and she had them ready right at 7:30 AM on a Sunday—no problem at all.
The next order was even bigger—300 donuts! He needed them ready at 5:15 AM, and once again, she was so easygoing and accommodating. We called to confirm the night before, and sure enough, the donuts were hot, fresh, and ready before the sun was up.
As small businesses owners ourselves, this kind of consistency and customer care is greatly appreciated. Jax Donuts has definitely earned...
