There was a warning sign at the entrance that we laughed at, but we should have walked away. We also received a stern warning from two people walking out of the restaurant, yet we still went inside. There was no sign of anyone to seat us despite a sign clearly stating we shall not seat ourselves.
We were told to sit at the bar while waitress Cyndi was outside charting and hugging an entire family because we wanted to sit on the patio. We ordered a drink while waiting for this waitress to finish talking, which took at least15 minutes. This waitress still had not cleaned up any of the empty tables outside, but she stuck her head in and blurted something unintelligible. We went outside and she turned her back to us so we waited for her to turn back around. It was awkward.
She finally let us sit down after waiting 20 minutes. We had so much time before sitting down that we ordered immediately before she left again. Flat bread with pepperoni, black olives, and onions. We wanted fries but she warned us they are coated in batter, which was strange so we didn't order them.
She turned around to walk away, then shouted back, what do you want on that? We told her again. She tried repeating the ingredients but she couldn't remember. She asked again and again and again!
She came back maybe 5 minutes later and I asked for a glass of water. My wife asked for one as well. She said, "so just a bloody Mary and water then call it a day?" in a very rude abrupt manner.
We said, we ordered a flat bread as well. She looked at us like we were crazy. My wide and I looked at each other stunned that she had forgotten after just 5 minutes. Then she shouted, oh the weird one! Um, I guess? Then she disappeared.
Two minutes later, she came back with a microwave pizza that was not even cooked. The crust was soggy and the cheese was not even melted. I asked my wife how that came out so fast. But it was definitely not the flat bread shown in other online reviews from this restaurant. This was 100% a $2 microwave pizza that was frozen just 3 minutes earlier. It was awful. You know those Totinos 99 cent pizzas you buy in the frozen food section? This was not even remotely as pleasant as one of those. I really don't think you could call it food. I ate most of it as I was very hungry, but my wife passed after a few nibbles.
But the real kicker is that Grand Colorado at Peak 8 is selling this restaurant as a great place to dine for people potentially spending $50-200k for a time share condo. This place has lost all credibility in...
Read moreWe had a very negative experience on Monday, July 19th, 2021 at 2:46 PM. The host was very rude to us. He was so rude that I was instantly driven to write this review. We came to Robbie’s Tavern after spending some time on top of the mountain. We were a party of 3 with myself, my wife and our grade-schooler. There were signs all over the place indicating the need to sign up for a waitlist by scanning the QR code, and with the specific instructions of “please indicate inside or outside” written on the sign. We followed their instructions. The wait was pretty short, maybe 5-10 minutes since there were not that many people waiting to get in. When our turn came to sit down the host didn’t look at the preference for inside seating that we indicated during our waitlist signup. He asked us again, and we said that we would prefer to sit inside. Then he asked us again how many people were in our party, once again ignoring what we already entered into the app. Up until this point it was a neutral experience, but what followed prompted the review. The host looked around for a table and found a two person table in the corner that was still dirty. He hurriedly wiped the table off with his shirt, leaving food behind from the previous people. Little pieces of food were left scattered all over the table and seats. He pointed to that table and said something along the lines of “sit here”. As he hurried away we asked for a different table that was cleaner and big enough to accommodate two adults and a child. There were plenty of open tables that were clean, and large enough for us. He pointed to the table that was still dirty and said this is what you get and scampered away. We stood there a little dazed by his rudeness and total lack of understanding as to what the most basic level of customer service is. My wife & I then decided that we’d better eat somewhere else. If the front end of the restaurant is so obviously lacking in training, what is the back end like?!? We thought it wasn’t worth the risk to find out… So, we left. To put the icing on the cake, as we were walking out of the restaurant the host suddenly appeared and couldn’t resist making a remark. We briefly made eye contact, and he yelled out “Not interested!?! Byeeeee!!!”. So we are saying “Byeeee” to Robbies Tavern, now...
Read moreWe have been owners at Grand Colorado for 5 years and each year, Robbie's Tavern has gone downhill. We were so impressed in 2020 - during COVID no less! They've gone downhill both in menu options and execution on their food. I understand that being on the mountain means you can charge $19/meal. But you still better be able to have food that stands up to a $19 charge.
It is also extremely frustrating to be staying at Grand Colorado and it's almost impossible to order food unless you go to the restaurant and order it. The website is terrible and is difficult to order from (and also doesn't accept owner's discounts, etc).... oh and is also not available until 3pm. You can't place an order over the phone like any other restaurant in 2024. They force you to come to the restaurant and place an order in person. Grand Colorado is a 5 star resort that lives up to that.... Robbie's Tavern is the weak link that continues to fail and disappoint. Being an onsite restaurant, you'd think providing convenience in ordering and providing a delicious (and hot!) meal, shouldn't be too difficult. I've wanted to leave a review for some time but kept hoping Robbie's would improve. Sevens at Peak 7 has been less than impressive but Robbie's has continued to push us to alternative options. We're now paying for delivery food over walking to Robbie's. Again, why would we need to walk to a restaurant that's on the premises?
It's 2024 and doesn't seem farfetched to think a restaurant at a 5 star resort would 1) provide easy ordering options, 2) provide hot meals to go, 3) live up to the expensive prices. Again, happy to pay mountain prices if the food lives up to it. I can get a cold buffalo wrap at...
