UPDATE 6/29/20 My hubby and I have been pretty happy with Aceitunos Mexican Restaurant, once again we found ourselves doing the drive-thru thing like many other people were doing as well. So my updated review isn't by any means a bad one, more like an overall suggestion for an improvement that would scale leaps and bounds, in my opinion. This evening I had half order of their super nachos (chicken) the size was not an issue at all, plenty of chips, tons of chicken, pico de gallo, guacamole and a tiny amount of cheese, and the beans??? If there were beans on my nachos I never found them, and the cheese was almost none existent, call me crazy, when I get nachos I want a lot of cheese, beans I could take or leave, but cheese is a must. The very definition of Nachos, coming from merriam-webster.com, is tortilla chips and melted cheese. So please add more cheese! My husband had the Carne Asada Ranchero special, it looked good from what I could see, and he said it was tasty, and he was happy the meat was much leaner then what their burrito usually has. Overall there was plenty of food, and he was satisfied with his meal.
*honorable mention is their rice, not that I had it this time, I have had many times in the past, and it's definitely something I'll order in the future.
3/7/2020 We decided to eat here again for lunch, as I mentioned in my prior review I would have the crunchy taco again, and I did, and it was great! However, I wanted to try something else they had to offer, which was one of their Mulitas. I decided to try their grilled chicken Mulita, diced pieces laying between two mini tortillas that also housed cheese, onion, and cilantro, I asked for extra onion and cilantro it was decent, but not one of my favorites. If you still can't visualize what it looks like, it reminded me of a mini Quesada on steroids. I can see several people liking these, though, especially if you're a Quesada fan. My husband had a Carne Asada Bowl. It included beans, rice, pico de gallo, lettuce, guacamole, cheese, enchilada sauce, and sour cream; he said it was good and reminded him of a giant burrito in a bowl, obviously no shell. The size to me looked decent, and it was large enough to fill him. The little restaurant remains clean, no dirty tables or unswept floors and the staff, friendly and mannerly.
Welcome new kids on the block! On February 20th, Aceituno's restaurant opened its doors. We happen to be the fourth or fifth person in line as this little restaurant first opened its doors. The appearance of a fresh, new, clean restaurant was reassuring. The employees were friendly and clean. And listening to people, everyone seemed excited to have them here!
Aceituno's has quite the menu of many different house-made items, I don't know if everything is home-made, but I know some of their things are. They offer everything from burritos and tacos to tortas and mulitas, bowls, combos, and many, many other options, and the prices seemed reasonably decent to me. You walk in and order at the counter, and you help yourself to the few taco sauces they offer.
I had a bean and cheese burrito with onions thrown in, and my husband had a carne-asada burrito. We were in a bit of a hurry, so I wanted something quick and easy. The refried beans were home-made; over-all, the burrito was decent but bland, which is what you get when you order a bean and cheese burrito. However, the burrito was a suitable size and too large for me to eat. My husband's carne-asada burrito was good, but he felt the meat was a tiny bit dry, but at least it was made correctly. I am positive things will even themselves out and by no means will this set the standard especially being a new restaurant. in fact, we are eating there again on Tuesday, for...
Read moreI wanted avocados on my food and did not get any so I went to order specifically avocado slices and not guacamole nice young gentleman went and asked if they had it I paid two dollars just for avocado slices and I understand that maybe there was a mistake made and they don’t have that but when I told the lady it’s not what I ordered she yelled at me she proceeded to get into a heated argument with me in the middle of the restaurant about how that’s too bad they don’t have avocado slices on the guacamole and I was not going to be getting my two dollars back period and shouting at me across the counter if she would have simply said oh I’m sorry for the misunderstanding I would’ve been like oh that’s a bummer that I wasted two dollars but OK can you do something else for me like I don’t want guacamole but because you decided to yell at me in the middle of the restaurant and be extremely rude I decided to just leave our food on the table which is unusual for me normally I always pick up after ourselves and make sure there’s no mess left behind and then before she even knew if I was leaving because I was looking for my boyfriend I wasn’t sure if there is a bathroom inside or not did not appear to be she proceeded to yell at me some more yelling that I needed to clean up the mess at the table while I was trying to let her know I was looking for my partner not leaving and got yelled at continuously I pride myself and always keeping a clean area but she deserves to pick up the mess after how she decided to treat us today I hope that this restaurant ends up firing...
Read moreHit or miss. The crisp beef tacos are pretty good but the chicken is bland. We decided to try dinner and got a burrito and a chimichanga combo platter. The Chimi was weirdly not fully deep fried, like only half got submerged and then it was served wet, with an enchilada type sauce. Very little chicken in it at all....and the side order of beans and rice we ordered, didn't make it in the order. Frustrating, I called...got Voicemail and no return call.
Packaging: while I appreciate paper products maybe a way for smaller businesses to cut expenses...it is a consistent problem with their packaging since take-out/drive through is their main service point. Thin paper plates covered with thin foil is not a good look for a street taco with toppings (i.e. fish taco with slaw and sauce) stuck to the foil in one hand and the flimsy plate dumping in the other). Definitely not a good choice for an on the go quick bite. Thats on me, but buyer beware.
Lastly, since I've given a good effort to give multipe chances and try a variety of items...the place is OK? For example, the oil could be changed a bit more frequently and the flavors are definitely inconsistent. I'll find another local place...
